FWIW, while I don't offer any kind of warranty on parts I don't typically charge labor to tear into the axle to figure out a problem. I say this because I've only had to do it once or twice out of the hundreds of axles I've set up between work and home.

If you're only going 4.10's you can find stock 4 cyl XJ axles with those gears in them from the factory. They can be hard to find though and they'll be of an unknown mileage/condition. If you have your axle geared and setup properly (by any reputable person/shop) then you're essentially resetting the odometer on your axles to zero. All new gears, bearings, and seals means you should be worry free for the rest of the time you own the rig.

If you're wanting a shop to take it to then I suggest either Northridge4x4 by me or CrawlerTech. I'm going to guess you're looking at around 400$ per axle in labor plus parts. Figure about $1200 out the door.

Because I've got 6 engines, 3 transmissions and a Tcase on my back porch...... I now have 7 MJ's... 5 of which are at the house...... 2 of which run and drive..... My garage attic and shed are full. I've got no room in my 24x40 lot, and I'm starting to have difficulty closing the door on my 16' U-haul box van.

I found myself trying to justify renting an additional space at the lot to store stuff in..... Which would mean I'd be spending $3600/year just to keep all this stuff.

I need to find a van to scrap, cut the top open and start dumping crap into it to haul off.... But..... It's just SO nice to not have to waste a day scouring the junk yards to find something.... I just head to the lot.....

You know Troy, you could just donate a 2wd MJ to me and fill the bed with some of that junk you don't want. :D

I like the idea of building a fuel efficient parts runner/pre-runner.

Speaking of axles. A family member of mine was told that she needs new gears front and rear on an 07 liberty. Does that sound right?
 
Yeah, pretty uncommon to need to replace the gears on a vehicle unless something really bad happens.
 
Even at that, what is the likelihood of both axles going? A collision that bad would render the vehicle toasted.

Like I said, sounds like fraud to me. Second opinion is needed for sure.
 
Well if somebody was changing the fluid out and forgot to put any back in then you could fry both front and rear gear sets.
