There was no '96 model year. It went from '95 straight to '97.
I am going to the bank today to get a loan that thing is sweet! Yeah they never made a 96 YJ or TJ. From what I read about in JP was there were enough 95 YJs left over to get them to the 97 TJs. Weird but true. I have seen people say they have 96 Wrangler few times on CL I just chuckle.

And I tried to search for '96 Wrangler in the Kelly Blue Book pricing guide on line and it doesn't offer Wrangler as a choice of Jeep models to choose from.
