best junkyards to get an axle

if any of you up here have done axle swaps what yard did you go to? im looking to swap in an 8.8 and trying to find the best price for one in good shape. just checking if you guys know of somewhere good in the tacoma/seattle area. thanks.

ya im actually in puyallup, about 15 min. from tacoma and 50 from seattle. i called a bunch of places today and the cheapest i found was $295. any of you do this and what did you get it for? thanks

Dude...if you can get an 8.8 for $295.00, and it's out of an 8cyl instead of a 6. JUMP.

I do the auto wrecking thing for a living. THAT would be a price I'd jump at.

BTW the 8 cyl has a bigger pinion(?) pin than the 6 making it more sturdy.

But even a 6 wouldn't be bad.

Umm I think you mean the cross shaft.

do you want one with drums or discs? $300 is good for one with discs, terrible for one with drums 95+ is what you are looking for.

hmmmm.....i thought i wanted one out of a 6 cyl for some reason, is there a major difference? that one for $295 is a 6 cyl but does have disc which is what i wanted for sure (95+). i tried pull-a-part but they only had one for i believe a 92? or something it was early 90s.

maybe if i can get it still ill go with the one for $295 then.

thanks, by the way, does there happen to be anybody in my area that could possibly help me to weld? sorry dont mean to sound rude or anything, just checking because i dont have a welder nor know how to weld so i am going to have to try to measure and get all the angles right then take it to a welding shop. im worried though without it under the rig i might not get everything right. let me know if any of you could possibly help me out, i could definately pay you a little something or help you out with something in exchange. couldnt buy you a beer, lol, because im only 19. thanks for your responses so far, let me know if there is a possibility.

I have found the parts I need from South Hill Truck wrecking. But when I inquired about a XJ D44, the price was nuts. I have not had time, but want to go poke around the pick-a-part in Tumwater. Heard they had a XJ D44

JM you almost never see any of the really good stuff in tumwater pick a part.They are part owned by olympic 4x4 up north,so most of the good stuff goes there.
