Glad to hear you're gonna make it, Geoff. We were all concerned. :)

I love how on the hilltop in Tacoma, they don't even bother attempting to remove any snow; just put out ROAD CLOSED signs so their asses are covered and wait for it to melt.

Sorry, guess I'm still used to the New England system, where < 6" snow meant we were going to school.:tears:

Pedestrians look at me wierd when I go around the signs and drive on.:looser:

About 10", then an inch of ice...then about another foot of snow on top of that. That little Dodge I had got me all over the place. :D I was 'stuck' at work for 3 days.

I remember the storm of '96. The year i bought my first house, and filed my first home owners damage claim.:D

Where were you in '96? THAT was a dumping of snow that shut everything down for about a week.

We lived at the end of a private road out in the county in '96. The county wouldnt plow it for us. So we had to get a guy in a CAT loader to come and clear the road. We couldnt even get out of the house for a week.

I had a 4wd S-10 back then, and it took me 2 days of digging to get it out from the snow drift it was in. Then another day just to get down the alley to the street. Good times.

Yeah it was a good time, It amazes me how much harder than us Whatcom county gets hit. You hit Bow hill or LK Samish and its like a whole different world. Of course the north county drifts are where the REAL fun is.

I don't remember anything in 96. After I moved back from Utah (you wanna talk snow?).

Anyway, today made me laugh at work. Each shift is scheduled 5 Floor Supervisors and 0-3 extra people to fill in, in case of a sick call. Only three supervisors showed up at 10. I was the only one not to call in at 12. And I had the farthest comute. Could not open 1/2 of the department.

Someone called me to see if I was going to work. My answer, "Hell ya, I want to go play in traffic." Just sucked I had to wait 8 hours before going back out to play in traffic.

The north Whatcom county drifts are what legends are made from. :D

That was the year that the National Guard had to bring snow blowers into Whatcom County because the public works only had two V-plows and one 1960's snow blower. Apparently a couple of the drifts were touching the powerlines, so they had to shut down power before the snow blowers could clear the drifts. I used to work summers at the public works department(96,97,99), and the guys talked about that storm for years. ;)

That is CRAZY
