Behold the Frog...5.5" lift is complete.

yeah pool noodle lol it fits perfect see ;)

mostly after removing the rubber inner liner thing, it keeps the mud sand etc etc from going to your hinges so much.

i didnt hear about heating up the paint, so i couldnt tell you about any truth in it

heating up the paint will help. I tried it on another jeep. The pool noodle works great. I trimmed my fenders and put one in because i got mud in there big time. If you get a decent size noodle and shove it in it will prevent a lot of mud going in there. It was just something i thought of one day LOL.

That thing looks sweet!! :worship: Nothing like a super clean Jeep with all the goodies on it.

tires look alot better with 15x8's on it, i have 4" lift with 33x10.50at's on stock wheels and i didnt think the extra inch of width would be needed but i will just have to put down the money and buy wheels now. i thought most soft 8's came standard with 3.75 backspacing, did you request the 4.5" bsing?

Check out SummitRacing.com and type in CRR-3975812 for the part number. Those rims are 42.95 each. Cheap.

That part number has 4" backspacing. The other 15x8 Soft 8's have 4.75" backspacing. They each have a 4.5" bolt circle. Maybe you just switched some numbers around?

nice. thanx. i'll still run my stock wheel for a spare but at least i'll get rid of the overinflation look =/

Most folks with 33x12.5's run 15x8's, resulting in 2.25" of bulge while your 33x10.5's on 15x7's results in only 1.75" of bulge. How is that the "overinflation look"? It's all personal preference, but your current set up should look less "overinflated" than what I'd consider to be the most common wheel/tire combo out there.

I personally like a little extra tire bulge for added rim protection from rock rash and for increased protection against blowing a bead, but again, it's personal preference.

Nicely put man. i feel the same way

I debated on 15x7's and 15X8's and finally went with the 15x8's. My first XJ uses 15x8's with the 31x10.50 tire and it looks great. The CRR-3975812 part number is what I am running on both Jeeps (I may need to verify that number on my spreadsheet).

Both Summit Racing and Big-O recommended the 15x8's with the 33x10.50 tire. I'm not a tire/rim specialist and received numerous suggestions on the forum, ranging from 15x7's to 15x10's, so I deferred to the "professional" guys for advice. I like the look but I will never argue with your wider tire preference.

How much lift did you actually get over stock? Just curious since the RE 3.5 seems to net people around 4-4.5". I'm wondering if that thing is sitting at over 6" of lift.

heres an idea for fender trimming... when i trimmed i used my front flares as a line to go off of and just used a body saw to cut them then used a pool noodle to take out the flex. if you havent trimmed before. it would be in your best interest's to unplug the washer fluid bottle and remove it before cutting into it =). i also used some black door trim protector stuff and ran a thin bead of silicone inside of it, then pressed it on and blue taped it in place to keep it in place until it dried. and the rear is self explanitory. it sucks cutting and folding the rear's, i hate watching the paint just chip away and not being able to do anything about it. take pics after the trim job. ur xj is gonna have lots more tire to fender gap without the flares =)

Would it work to stuff a pool noodle in there & then fill it in with that expandable foam insulation stuff? I don't know how flexible that stuff is, but it would seal out more than just "most" of the gunk if it worked right & didn't become brittle & just fall out.

Nice Rig!! Got any "Hand Me Downs"? lol jk..

I have a plethora of hand-me-downs listed on the Sierra Chapter for sale forum. Go there and check to see what I have. Most of the stuff is stock and extremely cheap to my XJ bretheren.

Keep the Cherokees alive as long as possible, I say. Let me know what I can do for you.

I pre-measured everything before the lift went on, but I have not had a chance to measure post-lift. I was on my back for three days installing this crap and I just couldn't manage to get back under there to measure the after-lift values.

You are right. On my first XJ, my 3.5" lift netted me about 5". Still has not sagged, nearly two years later. Love that lift, but I like the 5.5" lift better.

Ya that would be even better but then you wont really be able to access anything back there like door hinges and stuff. Another idea I thought of like the pool noodle is getting a piece of thin metal (thin gauge like the roof and mold it from the fender to the inner fender. It will keep more of the mud/snow/water out of that area. When fenders are trimmed you can fold them over and use those folds to hold the fender side in and then pop rivit it to the inner fender. I am thinking of doing this myself and take my pool noodle off because after running it for a year it has got chewed up and still allows moisture to get in there and with the noodle it gets wet and sits next to the fender and creates a spot to rust out after a while. Also after running my pool noodle for a year i am starting to not like the way it looks in there. Looks really tacky to me.

I am installing my Bielstein 7100s right now and after i do that i am going to do my fender spot differently. I am going to do the thin metal on it. Ill do a write up on it on a site i frequent more and i will PM it to you.

pool noodles awesome, its not tacky =) just think if your out camping by a lake or river or whatever, you always have pool noodles to play with =). or if your sitting next to the bon fire and your feelin tipsy. you can sneek off, grab a pool noodle and crack a friend with it =) (these are all non serious comments btw) im more about having fun i could care less if someone think's something looks tacky or stupid or unneeded. if it works and its functional then i'll use it. people talked crap about my 12" antenna, but i run it. i switched to my stock antenna recently cuz someone told me a good idea for it (use it to roast marshmellows and make smores).

i didnt like the fact that the last time i went mudding, that one fell out from being soaked with mud but i pushed it back in and rinsed it off later.

i modified your idea, i didnt buy a star patterened noodle. ;)
