Due to circumstances far too Byzantine to go into, my wife's 89 isnot where it belongs - i.e., here with us or with her at work. It's not technically "stolen," but it's not here either.

If anyone - in the South Bay or Peninsula area in particular - should spot a maroon 4-door 1989 Limited with tan interior and CA tag 2WCK774, please PM or email me immediately with location! It may be parked and sitting somewhere.

It is most likely to be found in the San Carlos/Redwood Shores area, but everyone please look out for this critter in the Bay Area all over! We'd like to have our missing child returned to us (the XJ - there wasn't a kid in it...)

I'm usually working at the computer throughout the day, so I'll keep an eye on message traffic. If/when it is found, I'll let everyone know and see to getting this post deleted to prevent confusion.

Thank you everyone around here for the use of your eyes!

Sounds like the kid or the ex took it, I will keep my eyes open. Any desinguising marks lift, stickers, dents, anything that would stand out.

Thanks - here's a better descrip -

Maroon 1989 four-door XJ "Limited"
Body colour bumpers and mirrors, black door handles, factory gold pinstriping just below beltline and factory gold "Limited" script forward of doors.

Largish US Flag decal on rear window, "bubble-peeling" paint on wheelhouse flares. Front right flare slightly separated from fender skin. US Flag (as printed in newspapers after 09/11/01) taped in left rearmost window, falling.

Dent with some rust in left rear quarter panel after of wheel, dent in rear bumper. Factory tinted rear windows (light tint - I don't think it's "privacy glass.")

May be driven by White Male Adult, 6'04", 200#, black/brown. Current dress unknown.

You're half right on the dissapearance, but the kid still living with us has a suspended license, and it's my wife's truck (and she wants it back!) Her X lives in Croton, NY, and I don't have an X. It's a friend of hte family that went AWOL with the truck, and at this point I'm more concerned about the truck and her keys than anything else - he'd better turn up before I find him...

Thank you to all of you who looked. I recovered my 89 last night, none the worse for the adventure that I've been able to tell on detailed inspection.

The appropriate party has been reamed a new bunghole from the inside out!

Thanks again - mods please delete this thread.

good to hear. the 35 minutes that i was on the road last night and this morning i looked..... really i did. did see a couple of new xj out there.

Haha - that would be easier, but for two critical factors...

1) I haven't gotten drunk in over five years.

2) My wife and I run a "Designated Drinker" programme - and it's usually me. When I go out and drink, I don't even take keys with me - to the XJ we're in or any of the ones we're not...

Anyhow, I'm not surprised that no-one here saw it - I finally found it pretty well off the beaten path. I don't mind someone needing to get their head together, just tell me before you do it in my truck - or let me arrange a pickup and dropoff for you...
