Yes they do, and in fact, it was Borla who made the Mopar Performance header for those years. The part no. is BOR-17010 for the '87-'90 XJ/MJ and cost is $500 +/- $30 depending on where you buy.

Just installed the banks TT on my 98. and I must say what an improvement over a cracked stock manifold. After, letting the computer adjust to the new flow, I am getting even better mileage and it rarely down shifts going up hills. The install went pretty easily, I thought i forgot something, it went so smoothly. Though, note to everybody, put the lower bolts in the bolt lossely, then set teh two manifolds on them, just like the instructions say too. Forgot that part, let me tell you its pretty hard to fit elbow deep under the manifold and try to find the hole, plus screw it in......hey that a little like.....well shot pool in the dark....."poke and hope"

I tried having a Borla header installed when my manifold cracked, but after working on it forever, the shop couldn't get the header flange to completely mate up with the engine block so I had to send it back. I just had them weld up the crack until I decided to get something else.

Interesting, does the Mike Leech header only appy to H.Os then Dino???

Mike Leach did take over from Borla in making the Mopar Performance header some time in the 90's but I don't know which year.

Had my Borla on my '90 MJ for about 3 months now, no problems no regrets. Noteable increase in umph. Haven't checked mileage, tho.

Very Satisfied.

I'm putting a Pacesetter Header on my '89 XJ daily driver this week, i have a Borla (like stated above) on my trail rig so i can compare. Pacesetter is the only one i know besides Borla who makes a header for the nonHO.

I used a header from Pacesetter. It was cheap in cost and ran all the way to the cat. You have to move the O2 sensor, but that was not a prob.

Anyone know the difference between the years? I have a '00XJ and want to get the header but they don't make it for that year. IIRC, the cut off is '98. Any major differences that would make it not work/fit right?

california emissions maybe? different downtube and dual O2 sensors on the pipes themselves maybe?

i dunno, i was wondering the same thign, if i had a 2000 instad of a 99 i coulda got so many deals for a header

That is correct, the 99+ (i believe) used two catalytic converters. and the designs are different. If you are completely redoing your exhasut system you might be able to make it work. dunno.

I know Banks makes a TT header for '00. I just called them about the difference baecause I found a good deal on a '00 header on ebay, but he informed me they are not the same.

I know this is an old post but for search purposes I'll ad that hedman makes a header for the older non-h.o motor

Also sence this has been reserected. 2000''s depending on when built have precats with two O2sensors on the manafold. If your lucky enough to have gotten an early in the year without the precats then you can use the pre2000 ones. If not then you'le eather have to get the banks one with the O2 bungs, or have them added to you new headder.

So, since the 89 I picked up has a shot header, it looks like I'm limited to Borla ($) Hedman or Pacesetter. Any others? Any complaints on either Pacesetter or Hedman? Borla's a bit pricy for the rig I'm working on now....

From posts on this and other sites the Borla seems to be the hands down favorite for the Non-HO (Remix) motors. I've been running one on my '88 for three years without any problems. I don't have any of the clearance issues I've seen stated in other post concerning the Bolra. I think that's due to the increased clearance due to my lift I installed when I put my jeep back together after installing a fresh motor. I would go with another Borla without looking back if I had it to do over again. My time is worth something to me and I hate redoing stuff becaused I short-changed myself trying to save a buck. Good Luck.

i replaced my stock header or what was left of it from my old TJ with a borla and about two years later had to replace it because it was shot as well...i was living in Maine at the time and the long winters didn't help...i sold it shortly after putting on the banks tt but it seemed to be more beefy than the borla allthough i can't comment on longevity because i sold the TJ within 6 months of putting it on.

If you want a really good header, check out Clifford. They no longer have the single outlet header like mine, but have a dual outlet header. They said that they can make a 2 into 1 pipe for around $25. Their header runs around $369 and I have been working on getting NAXJA members a discount.

These guys KNOW 6 cylinders. I met Jack Clifford in 1968 at Bonneville Salt Flats. They have specialized in power for 4 and 6 bangers since day one. I have run their headers for since 1968.

They let me in on the reason why they no longer offer the single outlet headers, and it may explain a lot of header cracking. As you may know, making the exhaust more free flowing makes the engine burn the fuel more efficiently, raising the exhaust temps and making them run more lean. Headers on a 4.0L can be exposed to exhaust gases of over 1300 degrees. This excess heat can cause the metal to crystalize and ultimately crack. They said the 4.0L runs pretty lean and had very high exhaust temps even with the factory exhaust, hence they crack. Because very few people do a decent job of rejeting after adding headers, making higher heat, the only solution they came up with that worked was going to a dual outlet system. They would be willing to make the single output headers for guys doing strokers but will not warranty them if you don't get your mixture correct.

I've been running the single outlet for several years, but I have adjusted my fuel mixture from day one.

Been running a Borla for....can't remember how long on my 90. I get good overal performance with it and have had no issues.

The temperature comments are interesting. Since we have to go through DEQ testing in the Portland area every 2 years, I get to see the results. In fact we can run through without cost anytime. The last time it failed due to running to lean. I installed the adjustable MAP as refferred to on this site and was able to richen the system up. I am thinking that if you get a header, maybe you should consider installing the adjustable MAP to run a little more rich.
