Baja 500 '06 - Goin?

We'll be leaving early on Friday the 2nd to hit Ensenada for reg/inspection then off to our campsite after lunch.

We will be heading down rt 3 & entering the race course further south & driving about 30 miles north to the campsite. We will be at a spot where we will see them running south in the morning then again heading north in the late afternoon & probably continue through most of the night.

Anyone else going?

I will be leaving at about the same time and will be leaving my XJ at home and taking my truck,what mile marker or town are you camping near? The rest of my family is going but they are going to camp out on the beach but I would rather go inland and maybe camp with your group. Tks 4XSANTA

We're heading to Ensenada early (leaving about 6:30 AM from San Diego) on 6/2 for tech & reg. After lunch we're going south on 3 to El Rayo to camp. On Sat, after most of the cars have gone through, we're going to high tail it to Tres Hermanos.

We're going to try to get north of Tres Hermanos to a water crossing before they start coming through & camp there the night.

Sunday there'll be more wheelin while we head east to Uruapan then to Erindira via the course.

I dont have exact coordinates of our camp site. What CB channel will you be on in case we can get in touch?

The reason why I would rather camp inland is to make sure I see any many vehicles as possible since a large number drop out midway.

to Erendira you'll need to start your trip in a boat !!!

Going to El Rayo sounds good to me but going to Tres Hermanos later that day will be tough but going back east on 3 there are lots of places to watch from as they go north to the finish i will keep you posted but i will be arriving at el rayo(99 mile marker+/-) before dark friday night.My bone head son will be over on the coast scuba diving and then he will go to Santo Thomas as they go north in the afternoon. Tks 4XSANTA

Cool! So you will be near us on Friday then. I dont think cell phones will work so I just say that we'll be on Channel 4. I'll keep my ears open and see if we can meet up. We'll be in two XJs, an Green 88 with a pirate flag and a blue 99.

Hey at least I'm getting ready to start a F-150 SC Chase/Prerunner project...
a slow build up of play truck......"slow" being the key word.

I will be leaving Costa Mesa Tomorrow at 1:30 pm heading for El Rayo via Ensenada and out highway 3,I should arrive before dark and I will look for you guys on the course near El Rajo, I will monitor CH4 and will be in my black silverado(14"lift,37's,weld wheels) Hope to see you there! Showed up in EL RAJO just after dark and drove around for an hour or so hailing you guys out on ch 4,7 & 13 but could not locate you so i set up across from the BFG pit and had a great time. Tks 4XSANTA

Yea, thanks to the leader of the group, we ended up being further south around Checkpoint #2.

The JeepSpeed XJ was the only XJ racing:

and it didnt make it to checkpoint #2 even. But hey, he's got a Currie rear-end

ATV class. It was soo cool to see em racing this. It had a 1500cc motor in it.

Something tells me that this Hummer is gonna suck:
