I have no doubts that an average driver can drive the Merc faster than they can the ZR1, as the AMG wizards of electronics can make it easier to drive, but the ZR1 is very nearly a road going cup car. It's nearly as fast as the Carerra GT, and tied the Koenigsegg.

you need more skill to push the vette hard, the Benz makes anyone a great driver. All those electronics really do a lot to keep it on the road.

AMG knows what they are doing!

I know I have had 2 of them. Sorry but the AMG does not beat the vette. Every major comparison has the vette being a better car. The ZR-1 is a much better track car is every aspect. I dont care if the benz is "easier" to drive fast if you are on a track with either of those cars you have to be a very skilled driver to push either of them hard.

The benz is a more refined "nicer" car but on a track 9 out of 10 time a pro driver will take the vette. I have driven almost every AMG made as well as the new vette and I like them all but sorry I have yet to even see a video of a AMG betting a C6 vette (any model)

ill have to agree on that with you rev, ive driven a majority of supercars, and the sl65 amg black series was by far one of my favorites.

Any of you guys have pictures of yourself with the benz?? Im not calling you liars but I know if I drove a 300K super car I would take a picture...

I mean with only 200 made I think its pretty cool that 2 people on here not only have driven one but driven them hard enought to compair them to a vette??

I have to assume by the comments of it being a vette killer you really have no idea what your talking about...?? I guess its possible that car and driven, top speed and all the other car companies have no idea what they are doing :dunno:

I didn't say anything about comparing it to the vette.......Just saying that AMG makes a good handling and performing car. Yeah a professional driver is gonna take a ZR1, they run vehicles with no "babysitters" but if you compare a regular C6 vs. An AMG i'm pretty sure the AMG will come out ahead.

I mean the C6 can still be had sub 50k, and 430hp isn't bad. But it just leaves so much on the table compared to the Grand Sport, Z06, Z06 Carbon, ZR1 (listed in order of BA-ness)

Lord I hope it'd beat the base model C6. On miataturbo, they run laps around the C6's even on low boost. The V8R guys are just getting their cars dialed in and figuring out the overheating problems, but even limping around the track, they are walking GT3's and cars in the same ball park like dogs. Might just be the fact the expensive cars aren't being driven to the max, where miata tubs can be had for a few hundred so the owners don't care as much. Who knows, who cares, its just fun watching the videos while my toy built identically just rumbles around town for a few more years.

Ps- the Z in that video was slow. They've had a few guys at 11.0X and into the 10's on stock run flats. I think it was Ranger who was hitting 10.7's with just drag radials.

Sorry...no pics, did not have time. My buddy trades them whenever the ash try gets dirty. The SL65 was an few years old, he bought it used, V-12 blown. AMG does not use blowers anymore.
I did not run them side by side, so the vette may have been faster, but the benz felt much faster and more controllable.

hey...I could be wrong, but I will take the benz over a vette any day.

Don't get me wrong, I like C6 vettes a lot and you're right for the price its a bargain compared to other cars in its class. I would take the ZR1 over a Benz, but since I am a broke ass, I will stick with the Jeep and the tracker until I can find an Impreza to AutoX.
