If you are only wanting to run 35s, an hp30 and 8.8 should be fine; I'm doing just fine on this setup...

My HP30 worked with 35s but certainly didn't like it. I broke chromo shafts frequently.

I guess it's all in how you drive and what you prefer.

Oh, that one. That's a rear. It'd be awefully difficult to steer if he put that one up front. It'd be unstopable tho! (in a straight line)

I guess he'd need something in the back too.

hes got 8 1/4 rear i think.? that d44 would be an upgrade.. and he said he ran 38's on his d30.. so i think downgrading to a 35 shouldnt be so bad..
he d have to upgrade the front gears to 4:56

if your willing to make the drive theres a guy up here in Williamsburg Va that has 44s, trussed with a detroit and 5.13s up front, aussie and 5.13s in the rear. He's not actually parting it out till the first weekend of February.
