Axle Help

Well from a some reasearch I have come up with some info. The rear driveshafts are different lengths as everyone has said, but i found out from some other web sites and here on the great NAXJA that the driveshaft length issue will be negated by the fact that I am lifted. So I think I will just try using the rear drivshaft I already have.

It isn't negated, you are going to want the longer driveshaft if you are lifted.

I got U-bolts, for my Dodge Ram, at Denver spring, they were very reasonably priced. The stealership wanted 40 dollars a piece, they made all four with bolts and washers for like twenty dollars. http://www.denverspringandsuspension.com/

I didn't say you needed the longer shaft, simply that you'd want it.

Correct....I think I warned XJ boy that he might have to lengthen or shorten depending on his setup. I swapped in a 44 from a 35 and ended up shortening my shaft because I did not have enough travel left in word. I have a spare shaft in case he really need to use it..........not sure on how much of a difference there is between a 35 and 8.25 as far as the pinion length. My 44 apparently was a bigger difference than I thought and effected my length.

He is just buying a 8.25 and swapping that in, no other parts, they didn't change the ujoint size on the rear driveshaft axle side I do not think, unless somebody has more insight into that. :D

Thanks, last time I bought longer ubolts I got them at Napa, but I do not really remember the price. Seems like a pretty good setup they have there.
Just take an old u-bolt with you and they will use that as a template.

Or....Print off the form and they gave to me and fill in the measurements.

I was real happy with them when I walked out parts in hand. I did (do) have one gripe with them: They work the same days and hours that I do.

Midwest Spring is open for a half day on Saturday. They bent longer U-Bolts for our XJ while I waited. All four U-Bolts with high tensile nuts and flat washers set me back around $20.

It would be a good idea to call because my experiences are from a year ago.

Hypoid, a quick question. Measurement "C" is to the inside top of the radius, correct? This monitor is a little fuzzy. Looks like it could be to center of bolt too.

Inside of the radius is correct.

The link above the picture brings up just the image of the form, if that helps.

Did you ever get this axle XJboy, or did the guy totally dis you?

Haven't heard a peep from you?

He totally ignored me the weekend that I was supposed to get it. He called my the following Monday and said he gets really bad service at his house and I could get it the following Saturday. I was going to get it but then I saw how much my check was and what bills were due and was unable to get it. Hopefully this next check will be better and it is still available.

As long as he is cool to hold it for you for another week. Been crazy on my end anyway. Did you ever get that gas tank skid hooked up?

I have not. I am hoping to get it done this weekend. I was planning on doing it last weekend but I was dumb and re-filled my tank after I got my check. But I am about empty now.
