Yep.. 2.5 auto has 4.56s stock.. very rare.. found one running and driving for $600 awhile back

I'd say it's the vac disconnect. Even so, they are easily converted to a one piece shaft plus you have a stronger upper mount on the passenger side. That is a killer find!!

think the price for a front axle runs around 130 up there. it was the disco. if you have alot of time, swap the shafts from a 96 then your deff good to go.

sucks the rear was d35 tho

Btw its the pap in charlotte

I was under the impression it was the rare combo of 2.5 with AW4 that resulted in the 4:56 option. The other trans used did not come with 4:56's.

I could be mistaken.. :dunno: IIRC Jeff in VA scored a set of these as well.

Isn't that what "2.5 auto" means?

Yup....running it under my MJ currently. Another MJ buddy of mine up here has a stock 4.56 MJ too. Only came in 87-89 MJ/XJ's with the 2.5 and AW4.

welp, my experience with them has been a work in progress (along with my MJ as a whole). Started out as a 2.5 with 4.10's and 31's (ok), then I swapped 33's on (not so ok). Around town was good, but it just ran out of oompfh on the interstate. So then I swapped in a 4.0L, which got the power back on the top end but had too high rpm's on the interstate. I finally switched to 35's, and it's just about perfect....

I would think that running 4.56s on stock tires would be a little too deep. Of course, if I find a D44 or D35 with 4.56s out of an MJ in the junkyard, I'm pulling it regardless.

Alot of low end torque but its almost half of our engines so I guess it balances out.
