Artillery in space… Game…

I used to like playing that simple artillery game where you had 2 castles on each side of the screen. The object was to set your cannon angle and speed and try to hit the other guy before he hit you… some games had wind you had to deal with to make it harder…

Well I found a similar game but with a twist… its in space. With planets. And Gravity. And Defences like – absorb, bounce, repel, shield, and stuff like that.

Each guy, up to 10 in a game online, can play against each other. Each guy gets a spaceship.

The free game has a set - set of weapons that you can’t edit… there are a few different types to get you to see what you can do…

But basically you on you shot you try you try to kill the other guy(s) in the play area.

The game was so addicting that I ended up buying the shareware ($17.99)…

In the purchased version you can build your own weapons… each shot had 10 “warheads” with 10 stages each. You can set the stages to fly, heat seek, burrow, explode (blow up parts of planets), Blast (cause up to 80 points of damage depending on how close it blasts), magnetize, napalm, fire, create ground and other stuff…

The challenge is trying to hit the other person and design a wep to counter the other persons, defense or position…

The game is called Wartheads SE….

PM me if you want a referral code…

Check it Out

One of MY favorite games was 'roll the quarter ton' it was played with 6 howitzers, one quarter ton hulk per team in the impact area and rounds loaded with HE PD or High explosive Point Detonating, the object of the game was to put a round within 10 to 20 ft of the target and lift it up so it would roll, one gun at a time. You lost points for direct hits. We would try and play with 3 of us forward observers and 3 firing batteries at a time. The winner was determined by who moved their target the longest distance in the shortest time. Sometimes if you had a really good firing battery and Fire direction center and got your sheath adjusted which puts the guns in a straight line at point of impact 25 meters from each other you could fire a converged sheath which puts all the guns at the same point of impact and really loft that quarter ton about 100 ft in the air. Was good for sharpening the fist teams. Low angle shots were preferred so you got that sideways 'oomph' instead of high angles which would drive it into the ground if you hit it. Kinda like 'roll the can' with a .22 only with a much bigger gun :D Oh, the guns were usually 5-10 miles behind you :D :D :D

Except for where you mention castles, I thought you were talking about Scorched Earth or its predecessor, Tanks Wars (tank-based artillery games).

Scorched Earth

I started reading that too and immediately thought Scorched Earth. That is still one of the greatest games ever, back when I was young we would just get a bunch of people around the computer and just have battles that would last forever. I need to download that game again.

Tank Wars! That game rocked, played it for hours and hours. Anyone know if there is a version of it still floating around?

Think I still have a copy on 3.5-inch diskette knocking about at home - I'll take a look. I know I have a diskette copy of scorched earth as well.
