Hey guys, have only lived in Washington for about a year, haven't had a 4x4 until now, so haven't had any need to explore for trails. I live in the Federal Way area, I'm trying to find somewhere that I can go play around a little bit with the jeep, see how it does off the pavement. Until I can get an idea of what I have with the jeep, I'm not looking for anything too extreme.

I would like to know of a place that's not too far from me until I know I can trust the Jeep more and venture out into the mountains. I drove around for a little while yesterday and didn't find anything, ended up near flaming geyser sp with no luck finding any trails or forest roads.

If yoyr just looking for logging roads, try capitol forrest. Its down in olympia. Do a google serch and you will find a map of most of the main logging roads. I go there alot

There are actually a few trails in there too off of rock candy road or a little further west (5 miles or less) theres a pay orv park called straddle line its like $15 a day

I do.nt mean to be mean but capitol forrest isn't a wheeling forrest. If dnr catxhes you its a ticket. Stradleline is for quads and bikes only any more :(

If your in Federal Way, drop down onto Hwy 18 and head out toward Buckley and up to Wilkeson. There's a ton of spots up there and it's like a 20 minute drive.

You can also head to Elbe Hills ORV and just drive the Forest Service roads if you don't want to try your luck on the trails. At the end of the main Forest Road there is a big bowl with a bunch of rock formations you can mess around on. Of course right now it is probably all covered in Snow. You could also do the same thing at Evans Creek and just drive the Forest Roads and mess around at a few of the bowls, but there is a lot of snow up there and it will be closing Dec 15th. Unless you like snow wheeling you are kind of limited on the number of places to play until after the snow melts.
