I learned my lesson about placing stuff under the rear seat when I had to unpack my car at a gas station on I-25 during a winter storm just to reach the lug wrench and jack stored under there. Not that you'd need to reach the compressor on a bad day...
When i install my swiches i think i will put them right behind the wiper lever on the dash...i bought a bezle on ebay for $5 it will make the switches look real clean
does putting the compressor under the seat cause it to over heat, and what about loudness...does it get really loud
You can certainly hear it when it kicks on, but the seat cushion does a pretty good job of muffling the noise (a good belch is louder). Mine's only running a front ARB right now, so doesn't run very often, and even when it kicks on, it's only for a few seconds, so there's no real issues with heat. We use PowerTanks to air up the tires.
No pictures, but I mounted my switches (old style ARB units) on the dash to the LEFT of the steering wheel just below the air vent on the lighter color plastic. The two switches are side by side with a small compressor on switch horozontally mounted above the other two switches. I did have to hack a bit of plastic behind the dash panel, but they do work quite well there. I have however bumped them on before with my knee though when exiting the Jeep. Just another option. Also, the ARB compressor was mounted next to the brake booster on the inner fender. Works well there if you don't have an ABS pump. However, the YORK compressor now works the ARB's and the ARB pump is for backup only. Jeff
here is some of what i did. took time to mod but id rather be anal once than have it fuked up later on.
when mounting switches here, there's a bracket towards the bottom of the dash that holds the cluster. didn't want a lack of support so i fabbed a bracket up that still let it have support but was out of the way of the switch. oh and trimmed the hell outta some of the internals.
did them here cause being locked at 75 would really suck. outta reach of normal operating. since added a "lockout" of sorts, to protect them even more.
i had seen something like that, don't remember where. anyway, i just wanted them up and outta the way. seemed to be the best place but one you get the panel off you'll see the lack of space that's there. a couple of screws and some grinding (who doesn't like to grind sh/t) and they fit like a glove. would like to see how your set up turns out.
