Blagojevich questioning takes up Obama's time

WASHINGTON – President-elect Barack Obama has said all along that neither he nor his team was involved in any eye-popping dealmaking over filling his vacated Senate seat. Obama's hand-picked investigator agreed.

"Everybody behaved appropriately," declared Greg Craig, Obama's incoming White House counsel and the person asked to conduct the internal inquiry into contacts between the transition team and Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

Prosecutors have said Obama is not implicated in the case against Blagojevich, accused of trying to sell Obama's Senate seat to the highest bidder. But the corruption scandal has drained precious energy from Obama's preparations to take over the White House.

In addition to the time Craig devoted to the internal review that Obama requested, the topic also has surfaced at news conferences intended to highlight key appointments and policy priorities. And Obama himself had to sit down last week in Chicago for an interview by federal investigators, Craig's report revealed. Accompanying him was lawyer Robert Bauer, Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs said.

The media should be questioning why we are believing someone investigating themselves finding no issues.

Of course they would not find any wrongdoing investigating themselves.....no one is going to shoot themselves in the foot.

Not saying that there WAS any wrongdoing, but I would feel better if someone other than the "handpicked" investigator, perhaps someone independent, had checked it out. Of course, if there was really no wrongdoing, then let the other party check it out. That would be even more believable.

Of course, that would involve the current Senate to act in a reasonable manner and check it's own.

It's going to be an interesting ride.....

Nobody seems to care that he can't produce a birth certificate, so why would they care if he investigated himself?

It's really strange what's going on, that's for sure. Too many unanswered questions that no one seems to care about.

It's reverse racism. America's so happy to have "beaten racism" by electing a black president that they may be overlooking things unconsciously so as to avoid looking racist by speaking against him. I'm not saying that's necessarily the case here. I just think all this talk about how we've finally beaten racism is foolishness. The very fact that we're so focused on his race proves that race still plays a big role in people's eyes.

The FBI made the arrest and is doing the investigation. Lats tiem I checked...President-elect Obama won't be in charge of the DOJ until sometime in January.

So why is Greg Craig...who has NO post until January conducting the inquiry?

I am not saying that there was or was not any wrongdoing....just that it would look a whole lot better for everyone if someone independent had been called in to look at the issue.

Because it's an internal inquiry and he has a post...it's on the "transition team" Think of it as spring training before the home opener. I know it's a chessy analogy.

1. Naturalized--You imigrate, apply, take a test etc.
2. Natural Born--Born on US soil OR born to an American Citizen. Obama's mother was a US citizen, therefore Obama is de facto a natural born citizen. A citizen by the nature of his birth, not naturalized.
