Anyone running this 231/231 doubler?

Wow, that looks awesome. Kind of wished I'd known about that before I did the whole tera 4:1 kit. hey, maybe I could still do this too. That would give me a low gear of what? 10.92:1 at the T-case? Righteous.

That's very cool! And yeah Dutch, I don't know why you couldn't still double the Tera setup.

My only concern would be supporting it. Probably nothing a little fab work to a solid crossmember/skid combo wouldn't fix.

I could just modify the TNT Belly pan I've got to hold it. I just wonder if that would be a little too much gearing.

2.31:1 doubler
4:1 Low gear
4.56:1 axle gears

All for some 35" tires on a D44 and 8.8 axle. I think I'll hold off on the doubler. :D

Ah come on Dutch.....think FARM TRACTOR!......You could put the thing into doubled low and then get out and stack your own rocks or clear the path in front of you and still get back in the Heep before hitting the obstacle! :D

My dad had this old Ford with a super low tranny gear. In 4lo and in first gear you could walk at a slow pace and beat the truck! .............ask me how I know? ...........Fine, fine I will tell you....use to drive the truck to do errands for my Grandpa on his farm, there was this gate I would put the truck in 4lo and in granny first get out unlock the padlock to the gate get back in and accelerate a little through the gate, get out and close the gate back up and hop in the truck so I would never actually have to stop the truck........I was young and a fun thing to do cause was bored

you know looking at that kit i could just get another tera-low kit and use it as my doubler too. that way i would be taking a 4:1 into another 4:1 instead of 2.31:1 into a 4:1. I'd have to start in 5th to go anywhere.

I am going to be seriously looking into this setup!! He has a kit for the 242 as well as the 231!

2.72:1 times two is 7.39:1 times 4.10 rear gear is 30.33:1 times 3.83:1 first gear (five speed) 116.17:1

Your set up will be 70.60:1.

So I think I am going for the double cause that is bad a$$.

From what I have read they say minimum 100:1 with manual trans.

3.83:1 (first gear) x 4:1 (t-case) = 15.32 x 4:1 (TeraLow doubler) = 61.28 x 4.56:1 (axle) = 279.4368:1 Oh yeah baby, I think I need the doubler. :D

69.8592:1 is what it comes out to with my TeraLow 4:1 and 4.56's. That'll be plenty of juice for my little 35's.

We've both been running a 36.98248:1 final with our 5spd, stock t-case, and 3.55 gears. Considering how well we've been able to do with thats I think my 52% increase in low range will be awesome, especially when combined with front and rear lockers and a 3" increase in tire.

I just wonder if that would be a little too much gearing.

Is there really such a thing?

I guess if you only had two choices there could be.......

But with that you've got more choices than two.

With the 4 lo I'd say you'd have 4 gears to choice from.

hi - hi

hi - 4 low

2.7 - Hi (edit, as I think about it, this one would be rear wheels only)

2.7 - 4 low

Sounds good to me......
