Anyone heard of or ran these trails in Big Bear?

The horsetheif trail looks a lot like a trail we ran last year at the BB event. I say this based only on its location looking at the map. Maybe Tim will correct me if I'm wrong....he was our guide.

take 3N07Y down to the Cactus Flats staging area, then go over to horsethief Flats Road (3no3a). it starts out easy and gets harder as you go, lots of off camber and rocky dirt hill climbs,,

Tip Top Mtn is 3 trails (2N90, 2N90A, 2N90B) all rated blue square more difficult. Access is off 2N02

Kevin gave good info on Horsethief Flat. It is black diamond most difficult.

Tip Top can be accessed from the east end of Baldwin Lake.... up through the burn and cross Arrastre Cr. to the west end of Challenger Pass... it's a long boring ride to the Tip Top turn off..... It might be better to come in off of HWY 38 on I believe 2n01. Rattlesnake is a nice ride, but would be better in the spring or after a good rain/snow storm.

Awesome information!

So, do you guys recommend these trails, or would you run Gold Mountain and John Bull instead? I have run GM and JB many times, but never ran the others. I want to run something different and provide a good time for folks that are going along.

Thanks!

How about Pontiac Sluice for a little wheel'n.... 2no2 is a nice drive... but no wheel'n... and Rattlesnake is cool, but no wheel'n. There is a short loop off of 2no1 goes up to a nice vista looks down on the Sluice, a little shack & a pond/spring. I wish I knew the numbers.
It would be S.W. of the area shown on the smaller topo in this thread.... back west on 2no1 to the south.

Tim knows all the #s I think.....

when i lived in 29 palms me and my buddy used to wheel up there all the time and always stoped at that little pond spot.

if your ever over in that area and see a fork in the road.....literally a 10 foot tall fork in the road dont go to the left!!!

some crazy old man lives over there and has a ton of old military vechiles and about 100 dogs.

I was checking it out when he came after me with rifle.....good times :D
