Anyone have a rear XJ D44 they're looking to get rid of?

Skipper gave me an 8.25 to get my Heep back on the road once, and it really helped me out :). Now I'm passing it on to another person who needs an axle.... and there are several people here (and on other forums I'm on) that I wouldn't hesitate to help out if I could.

But you know what? If the guy wants to sell D44's on CL for $500, than so be it. If people wanna pay $500 for it (and they will) then who cares? That shows that the market is there.

But at the same time, if he was still trying to make a decent amount of cash selling to a fellow member, then that's just not cool IMO. But then again, if he took the time to go down, look for one, pull it, bring it home, clean it up etc etc.... then shouldn't he at least make some cash off of it, even if it is to a fellow member, knowing that he could get quite a bit more by just selling on CL instead? I mean, it's not like it's just sitting in his yard, left by a previous project or whatever.

Would any of you guys randomly go to Pick N Pull, happen to find a D44, pull it and everything, pay $150 for it (or whatever) and then sell it for the same price? If you would, the you're more dedicated than I. Congrats.

You could just go to Pick N Pull and find your own, do your own work, and skip all the BS. I did. They're not that hard to find.

Maybe you can think of it this way. The only reason they are so expensive and hard to find is because people search them out, buy them up and sell them for more than they are worth. All this because the people who actually need them can't find them at the junkyards.

This is America, go do whatever you want, buy low and sell high is about as American as you can get. :patriot:

It's just hard to make friends that way.

Oh and BTW Travis, you got the 8.25 from Skipper because I found a D44 at Pick n Pull, and told her where it was because I knew she needed it. She went and got it, and you benefitted from this.

Um, no. They are incredibly rare, that's why they are hard to find... And the basic principles of supply and demand would account for the high price.....very small supply, very high demand....

But let's all play nice.

I love my Dana 44 this much:

The only reason they're so expensive and hard to find is because a few people are going around to the Pick N Pulls to buy and sell them to make some quick cash?! What? You don't think the fact that D44's were only offered on the XJ for 2 years, and only on certain models, could possibly be another reason?

If people are selling them for more than they are worth, but someone still buys it for the asking price... is that not what it was worth to the person who bought it?

.... and now I'm giving the 8.25 to someone off another forum. Should I tell him that he needs to thank you for telling Skipper about the D44? Should I tell him that he benefits from me finding my D44?

Boy, you sure got a pretty mouth. You want to lick my 44?

Seems like Ricky and tvis just don't get it. I'm curious, has either of you really met up with the NAXJA group yet?

Seems like there is a good supply of them at the local yards.:dunno: Just got to get there before someone else does.

No need to thank me for anything. I did what I did because I wanted to take care of a friend. I could have just pulled it myself right then and there and made some money off the deal, by why should I try to turn a profit from a friend? I'm just different I guess. Easy come easy go I say, if I get something for cheap or free, I try to pass along the same deal.

Like I said, it takes all kinds to make up the world. Just because I don't agree with what you are saying doesn't make what I am saying wrong. Nick wants to fit in with the group, we were just helping him do that.

Wait what?!?!? You completely contradict your first post...?? I'm confused.

And at $150, how do you figure he doubled his money? PnP charges about $150 for a complete rear end. If anything, he lost money; time and labor.
I am sorry you are so confused.

I have picked up a compleat 44 for $89 with the core charge from a PnP on half price day. Skipper got that 44 at Pick n Pull that Bryan found for under $75 and that was not on a Half price day. But she is hot and they sell cheep to hot chicks, got a hot Girl? Put her in a sexy outfit and take her with you! It takes me about 15 minutes to drive to PnP and 30 minutes to take out an axle. That is one hour of work with the driving.

I installed Skippers axle in my driveway for free, with some help from other NAXJA members, part of why I like this group.

You really should get the Lebaron hood vents!

This has got way out of hand. I think that anyone willing to pay 5 bills for it should be ripped off. Nick helped me out, that was super nice of him. Should I find a 44 somewhere, I will pull it and put it up on NAXJA for the same price that I bought mine for. I have no problem doing that. Travis and Ricky, I think we all have to realize that NAXJA is a tighter group than other forums. They sit in each others' driveways and wrench. In the case of Opie and Phil and I, we go to PnP together. I know I am new to this gang, but I figure a year from now, I will be sitting in Letterman's or Phil's driveway, beer in hand, shooting the shit and handing someone sockets. It's just the way it goes around here.

We can let off this argument. People who pay $300-$500 for 44's picked the day before for $80-$120 deserve to be ripped, and people who aren't willing to pay that much, should find a nice group of guys, get one for cheap, and then be willing to contribute to the group as a whole, as I am fully willing to do.

I hope we can put this to bed now.
