So I am looking to get a suzuki VX800 pretty soon.. well I have been looking for a bike for a while and just came across a VX800 on craigslist that caught my eye, I looked them up, seem like damn reliable bikes, love the exhaust note, love the idea of a V-twin standard...
This one has 34k miles (I think), needs the carbs gone over (apparently runs off one now, has been sitting for a couple years), and needs the rear brake caliper gone over (sometimes sticks). The seller had a guy from the local bike shop go over it and says it needs about $300 worth of parts/labor. I know the rear calipers tend to sieze up sometimes if they are getting old (or so I have read) so a rebuild is expected... and the carbs wont be a problem to clean except that I would need to get a balencing tool which runs about $100 to re-sync the carbs if I do it myself..
I read plenty of reviews with people saying they are reliable and strong till 60,000+ miles. Plenty of good reviews out there... anyone on here have any experience with them? I know the front forks tend to be soft but that's a $50 or so fix.
Oh, and the best part is he is asking $750 for the bike. Apparently real clean, been garaged by the owner (was bought as a learning bike by someone who retired).
What y'all think?
