Hey let us know if you need any help with the lift.

Sorry if I posted twice. Not sure if I'll need any help. Just have jack and jackstands. Anyone know if I'll need spring compressors? If anyone wants to help let me know but it wil be around Feb or Mar. Got to wait till taxes come to get tires.

Oh, will I possibly need spring compressors? A coworker says I should get some.

I would trust yer coworker. Unless you have access to a lift, spring compressors will come in handy. We did a 4.5" lift on an XJ last night but we had a lift and we got the whole kit on in about 3 hours. U can rent spring compressors from advanced or auto zone. Heres the XJ with 4.5" and 33s. We will have to do a little trimming. http://www.usjeeps.com/members/p25-1136746624.jpg

Yea lots of fun stuff up here..... lol Welcome aboard!

I'm in TR. No XJ anymore but still covered up in Cherokees (FSJ & ZJ). I just stopped in to see whats shaking with these folks. I am always up for wheeling, shout when you are ready to do your lift. I have the spring compressors and such to do a lift kit. I've done a bunch of XJ's. I know where to find a factory 44 rear right here in the upstate as well. Spotted it the other day!

Ok I'm going to be gettinig my tires this week sometime. I will be starting on getting my jeep lifted next weekend. If anyone wants to come and help that would be great. Just leave me a post.

In a garage I hope. It could be cold out you know! LMAO! Let us know when and where and maybe some of us can help out.

I hope it's not too cold out this coming weekend. I'm just off hwy 321 right inside Fairfield county. About 14 miles above I-20 and about 6 miles from exit 27 I-77. I still need to get rear springs, so hopefully I'll get those before Sat.
I was shooting for Sat around 12 I'll post again and leave my number If anyone one is interested in helping or come to watch. Now I just have jackstands, so it maybe a pain. I will get some coil compressors.

ok sorry wasnt able to get to post again before the weekend. I'l be doing lift this weekend. If anyone wants to come and help out just call me 803-754-2185. I'll probably start Sat morning sometime. Finally have all the parts i need. So give me a call if you want to come.

Hey guys I see there are a good bit of s.c. jeeps on here ! I just bought a 1996 xj country and plan to do a little 4.5 lift on some 31"s , this is my wifes jeep so it will not be too hard core . I have a 2001gmc Z71 lifted 6" on 35" meats and 1983 k-5 trail truck project in the works . so whats the hot set up on these xj's for street and light off road ? I dont want to go any bigger than 31"s to keep the truck ez to get into .thanks for any help.

If you never plan to go any larger than 31s and will only off-road very lightly, I'd just do a 2" BB. With 31s it should be streetable and off-road you may rub, but it won't be too horrible. If you don't want to worry about rubbing you could do a 3" lift, but may require a SYE at that height. A BB will cost you around $100. A 3" lift with an SYE will cost you at the very least $500 for the lift (for a decent lift) and then another ~$250 for the SYE kit (PORC SYE and front driveshaft plus shims).

95-96 is the swing year that most have to do the sye. I'd recomend 3" with the 31's. I know of some that did nto need the sye at that height but at 4.5 you are looking at one. I know a lot on here dont like Rusty's but for the $$$ he has a decent lift. I know of and helped install 2 of them with friends and they have yet to sag. I know one has been on the xj for at least a year or two and it has been wheeled lightly.
