Anyone else go thru exhaust manifolds quickly?

I just got done replacing my exhaust manifold. I had to replace it about 13 months ago when the OEM one crapped out. The one I just replaced was an APN header. The welds were very crappy and it blew through the welds at several locations - the downpipe was completely separate from the manifold and my mileage went to hell. The new manifold is one of the ones with the slip joints on the #1 and #6 cylinders - we'll see how well this one holds up.

Anyone go thru exhaust manifolds as quickly or is it just me? The good news is that I am getting pretty good at it.

My wifes did the same thing, found bad motor mounts.I have brown dog on mine and have never broke it yet, yes she is getting them next week.

That may be part of it. I installed Brown Dog mounts a few months ago so it had the worn out stock mounts for most of its life.

Also, the welds on the APN header had no penetration and were just surface junk. They just ripped at the welded joints.

both my heeps still have factory manifolds.
red does not leak.
green leaks pretty bad.
both xjensen & I need new pipes from the manifold to the cat as we both smashed the crap out of them at the hammers.
do you know where i can get a replacement of that section that will bolt up?
you may want to just get a new factory manifold for your rig since they last the longest.

An exhaust shop should be able to bend up a downpipe pretty cheap.

The factory manifold costs $600. The replacements cost $90-$100. I've heard of people having good luck with the replacements and I don't really want to spend $600 on a factory manifold. My buddy had an Edelbrock manifold ($600) and it only lasted 3 years.

It is completely shot. Every weld on that thing is blown apart on the inside / outside / top / and bottom. It is in like 5 pieces and warped like crazy.

My APN has cracked several times at the collector. I just grind it down and booger it back up before smog time. the rest of the welds seem to be holding ok.
