Anyone buy a vehicle with a lost title?

If it has Colorado plates on it, the owner can take the registration to the county and request a copy title. A few years ago the cost was $12, don't know what the current cost is.

I guess that depends on the county. I've had titles printed off while I stand there, just don't remember if any were a copy title.

In Larimer County you get a duplicate printed while you wait, does say duplicate right on it.

Now if it's a true lost title situation and nobody can get ahold of the prior owner, skip it. Then you have to go get a bonded title and all kinds of other BS.

passed on it. trans was blown, but engine was supposedly good. wanted to start it and was told that the key cylander was messed up and it wouldnt start.

body looked good though and had a fact tire carrier.

its on craigs, anyone looking probably seen the ad

Expounding on what Hypoid said, yeah - if the current seller is also the last person to have titled/registered it, then getting a duplicate title is super easy for them.

But, for someone trying to get a new title for a car that doesn't have one at the time of sale - that's a big process, fairly expensive and tedious. It'd have to be something of decent value for all that effort to be worth it.

..... and there's quite a few threads on this subject already with good info on what to do/where to go to get lost title work done.
