Anyone break an 8.8 shaft?

man my freind with a 97 explorer twisted a stock shaft off on the road spinning a tire., in his 6cylexplorer on 30's.

who was whining?

and all of this animocity to those who don't pay to post here...why? is someones input or opinion somehow less valid because they are not full members?

I start to feel used after a while. I love newbies, and am happy to answer their well-constructed questions. But come on, anyone with 500 posts on this site who isn't a member is a serious free-loader. You are welcome to throw out any question/opinion you want, and it will be judged on it's merits, that's a seperate issue from free-loading, or leeching, as we like to call it.

funny thing is.....I filed the application this mornin before this conversation took place.

I was just sitting here thinkin that it was just a bit callous. and I had never been made to feel that I was obligated to pay to play.

My opinion is you should not feel obligated to pay...

...but, if you feel like this...

One more reason the "good tech" people at NAXJA don't have my money for a membership....the good tech often comes with a dose of attitude.

...I recommend that you go some place else. ;)

Just because I'm in the freeloading group with 94.57% of the members on this board, and it does say members on the front page of the forum, why can't questions and threads from everyone be treated with some respect, decorum and, dare I ask, kindness? Heck, the question that started it all was from a member that has a paid membership.

I know the thick skin thing will get thrown out here again but really, ask yourself, is there a reason to be rude? To anyone?

What is the point of this thread if you've already upgraded to 1541? Yes, people have broken plenty of 31 spline 9" and 8.8 shafts, even 1541 shafts.

This is rude?

I think I'm going to need to borrow one of my wife's nursing bra's in order to be moderator of Modified Tech.

Is there a rule in the bylaws that says you have to be an ass?

While this isn't the most technical thread, I said it was strictly out of curiosity. I never have understood why someone sees a thread, thinks it's stupid, and feels compelled to reply anyways. If you think a thread is stupid, wouldn't it be easier to just not reply and let it die?

There is one about your language.

Reported.

Thanks Crash for continuing to make people feel stupid for asking an interesting question, just because it's not interesting to you.

Jackass.
Another potty mounth. Reported. You sir need to go back to JU.

Because your the one that started a thread that is questionable if it even belongs in Mod Tech and when someone had an opinion you didn't like you cryed and called names using a potty mouth that is against the forum rules.

Since when does a question about a FORD axle installed in a JEEP not belong in modified tech?

SO......anyways, we're 3 pages into this and TWO people have responded who have actually broken one. The rest is whining, complaining, etc.

Anybody else? Have all the shafts broken as the one pictured? Have any broken at the clip? Yes, I have upgraded shafts... but I have installed 12-15 8.8's in customers rigs and wheel with several others and still trying to satisfy my curiosity.

J

eh, ok I see it now, I guess that the first time I read it, it left me with the impression that CRASH was just out to diss freeloaders.

i.e.
Keep up the freeloading, looks like it's working well for you.

I see now that the namecalling was initiated by other parties, and some of the responses could have been considered whining....... carry on.

The shafts really are quite strong for up to a 35 inch tire. Bent flanges are rare. The C-clip groove has a thick shoulder, and can take a bunch of sideload without complaint.

The housing, of course, is quite another story, and requires attention.

Where did you ask about INSTALLING a 8.8 under a Jeep?

I didn't. But asking a question about an axle that isn't OEM on a Jeep does not belong in OEM tech. Where would you have suggested I put this, if I were to start over? (don't worry, I won't) :)
