I like the looks of their valve seals vs the new (Chevy) ones that were mailed to me by the engine builder. The spring mechanism to hold the seal on the valve guide looks very flimsy. He also said there is no distinction between the exhaust seals and the intake seals -- Yet the mopar ones for stock valves are different and even seem to feel different (rubber compound). Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with Valve Stem Seals to say that one is better than another? I want to do this once and do it right.

Hastings man. co. has been around for a VERY long time- like the sixties. I have used alot of their internal engine parts, and never had any issues. They even used to make their own filters. If any of the old timers read this thread, then I am sure that they will have good stuff to say about Hastings.
As for the stem seals, YES, there is a difference in rubber compound, since the exhaust is naturally hotter. The standard "jobber" seals are okay, but I have always spent the extra 1-2 dollars for the "better" stem seals and have yet to be dissappointed for the extra change.

If you are looking at the positive type valve seal, the Hasting is listed as a teflon valve seal. I used some Mr. Gasket teflon valve stem seals on a 351W. Ford sold the same part in thier Hi-Po catalog. With teflon the intake and exhaust seals were the same. As the previous post said, Hastings in an oldtime company with a good reputation.
