There are no advantages to ACME threads, only dis-advantages.Extreme lack of adjustibilty would be the main one.Poor thread fitment would be another.

Well, I was thinking about the fact that the threads are cut at 29° instead of 60°, giving extra pulling strength on the threads. Sounds like it isn't an issue though.

you only want ACME threads if your using the threads as the pivot (instead of a joint, or w/ a wishbone 3 link, something like that) theres a few guys w/ pics on pirate, but, for anything else, you dont need it, just make sure you have a jam nut

Those are radius arms, not long arms. But good job anyway, looks good.

I would be willing to bet that 98% of the people on here use those terms interchangeably. I would even go so far as to say that radius arms are a type of long arm configuration.

Some recent ones from mine, for more variety in this thread.

I'd imagine that being vetteboy it might be...

Vetteboy, did you drop those crossmembers below the bottom of the uniframe rails? Or it just looks that way because your sliders are part of your rockers?

Are you refering to radius arms or a 3-link set-up?

Yeah, they're dropped 1". That's a piece of 1 x 3 x 1/8" rectangle tubing between the bottom of the frame reinforcement and the crossmembers. I wanted a flat belly skid and the only alternative would have been to completely remove the entire trans tunnel and build a whole new one. View from the side:

and what I'm left with inside, with both t-cases nearly against the tunnel as it is:

Still at about 26" or so underneath so I'm not too worried about it; sides and bottom will all have UHMW-PE skins so it should go over stuff without too much issue. That and the link placement should help go up and over stuff in some cases.

And yes, it's a 1960 'vette in the background. :)

Yes I know you're vetteboy so that had to be a vette. However I niticed it was old. When they were great. Because your from Jersey I'll mention I used to work at a resto shop in Ringos. Rt 30 north of Trenton. Among other things I worked on chasis number 58.

Rt. 31?

I went to TCNJ (ol' Trenton State College), prolly have been past the shop before. They leveled Flemington race track about a year ago if you remember that place.

I used to autocross this one, it was fun, then I got a jeep and liked that hobby better:

and the old one, belongs to my buddy who owns the shop (never mind the ugly crossmember):

Yeay Rt 31 my bad. Been away for a while.

That's unamerican. I used to go to the Friday night races in High School. Good times. Actually grew up in PA.

He (the owner of the shop) actually moved to Charlotte about 7 years ago.
