any ideas for preventing car theft?

I like the windshield wiper idea. Hell I might install that even though I still have my wipers, I don't care if I have to let them wipe a bit while I start the jeep.

I would imagine if you found the power or ground for the pump and ran a relay then a switch to the dash Im sure you could.

sorry Im not much of a help I was just thinking out loud...

The irony is, my xj is capable of running with out power to the pump. It probably won't get far though. I blame it on the 4.0L. It just works to damn well!

I just would disconnect the wire going from the coil to the distributer cap; I do it every day since I park in a shady part of downtown for work. I just disconnect it from the distributer and tuck it away or sometimes just take it out completely and bring it with me to work. They can’t steal it if it won’t start.

ya i pull that wire when I park it outside

when i have to leave it out front for multiple nights, i pull the battery into the house, the tps connections, the cps connector, the ignition coil to dizzy wire, and the ballast resistor for the fuel pump. they would make alot of noise before they got it running and they would need a battery and a damn chiltons to get it going at that point.

The best I ever saw, or tie for 1st anyway, was that the car wouldn't start unless the blower switch was in full-blast & AC was off. As far as I know, the HVAC worked normally after starting. I suspect that the full-blast position no longer went to the blower motor but supplied power to the IGN-ON relay or fuel pump, though I didn't get the full details of wiring on it.
Tie / runner up is my old man's car. Again, I don't know exactly how it was done but you have to press the garage door opener buttons, in the correct sequence, in order to turn on the fuel pump. Door opener also works to open the garage door & is kept in the map pocket on the driver's door.
Third best, IMO, is the hidden switch wired in series with the ignition key to supply power to either the fuel pump or fuel injection relay.
Noise alarms are good for nothing but pissing off your neighbors.
