another trail closed down

sidriptide

nobody of any consequence
i noticed today as i was driving past the trail head of one of my local favorites.. big red and white sign.."PRIVATE PROPERTY NO TRESPASSING" on every tree for the first 50 yards of the trail.... and the trail was graded with a nice grey crushed stone surface now.......... no more scenic overlook at westfield and hampton ponds..

:bawl: :tears: :tear:

That seems to be the trend in the northeast. If you know of any local trails in New England, enjoy them while you can.

Time to start exploring upper Maine in earnest.

If that's the one I'm thinking of, I'm glad I came up to visit a couple of months ago - it was a fun trail and great punchline at the top - what a view. Thanks again for the invite, Mike.

Then again, if that was the trail, it shows once again how there are some d*****ts in this sport that royally screw it up for everybody else. Wasn't that the one with the trashed wreck at the entrance and the 50 gadzillion lines through the forest to get around the first, mild obstacle?

Can't really blame the owners, considering how beat-up the area was starting to get. Very depressing when most of us play by the tread lightly rules - but it just takes one ****** . . .

Pay to play really annoys me (e.g. Paragon, Rausch Creek, etc.), but at least it gives us somewhere to go. $25-35 a day isn't so bad, considering it's a $450 gas bill to cruise on out to Moab and back. And even that heavenly playground is under attack.

Kazakhstan, anyone?

yep.. thats the place we went last summer mike. even if it wasn't "tpo of the world"... i cant really fault the owners either.. i was suprised how FEW drunks on quads we saw that day.. that (was) a huge party spot for the kids in the area... and local word has it that after the owner builds his house he may open it up again for QUADS! oh well....
