i was going to take pics during the whole process, but was really pressed for time so that didnt happen. basically i raptored the lower doors/rockers up to the pinch seam, wheel wells, bumpers, door trim, bumper caps, and some of the flares. i left my door trim on and primed it and the bump caps with Rustoleum Plastic primer before raptoring. bump caps did come off however as to cover the entire bumper skin. i was sticking with the UPOL directions so the factory finish got scuffed only. no primer was applied to that surface. UPOL claims only bare metal needs a self etching primer before raptoring.

i sprayed the raptor on, but wished i would have rolled it on. rolling it on would give it an even finer texture. i used damn near the whole gallon for this and still have some places that need a touch up. im also planning on doing the roof later this week so looks like im going to be buying another kit. i will be rolling it on and will post pics here. overall im very happy with the results so far and looking forward to getting the roof done.

anyway, so here are some pics. let me know what you think.

thanks

i went ahead and bought another kit today as they dont sell this stuff in any sizes but the gallon kits... anyway, im planning on getting to the touch ups down low and then doing the roof this weekend. by touch ups i just mean a couple of spots where i did not get a sufficient 2nd coat and the higher traffic areas.

pics to follow

Don't do your roof! Some one did my dd xj before I got it! It's like have an over sized easy bake oven! And you are the cupcake!!!!!!

Yep.
As an experiment, my old man painted his roof white (it used to be standard gray asphalt shingles) and his attic temperature dropped ~40 degrees, it is consistently 1 or 2 degrees warmer than outside air.
If you raptor line the roof of the XJ, figure on the reverse effect AT LEAST.

you know ive been thinking a lot about the roof and thought if its black it only going to attract UV... but the raptor is supposed to be highly UV resistant.

lately ive been leaning towards not raptoring the roof. and now these replys are enforcing that even more.

You could use the tintable Raptor that comes in white. Raptor lined and reflects heat!

sounds good, but im gonna do some more research before doing anything to the roof

maybe it would make more sense to line or paint a panel if you will... that mounts onto a roof rack. that way there is space between the panel and your actual roof. maybe like a roof rack "floor" or something. if there was enough space in there it would almost be like parking under/in something, but all the time.
