Another new XJ owner

Hello folks.

I just bought my first 4x4, a 1990 cherokee with a semi new drivetrain, and a np242 t case, its ugly, but damn its fun.

Well im an adict allready, im building disco's and starting on an on board air system this weekend. And hope to do some triming this month(tho im scared to doit myself lol).

Going to build a budget boost asap, then after the first of the year spring for somthing big.

I would really like to join the club, but i had a few questions, how often are there meetings, and how often do you all get togther for trail runs?

Im pretty good with cars, ive owned 5 drag cars, so if anyone in my area needs a hand with motor work let me know.

First off, Welcome to Northwest Chapter of . And to warn you is NOT going to help you break your addiction.

Sound like you have a good plan so far, just don't forget tow points and skids.

As far as meetings we have nothing set in stone. Most club business is done online, we also have an all new Board of Directors starting in 2006. So they may at their discretion, have more meetings.

The Seattle guys seem to have a large(10+ rigs) wheeling trip about once a month with a small(3-6 rigs) trips every two weeks. In fact they have a trip to Reiter this weekend, I think they are planning on 9+ rigs.

Portland boys are getting together about every two weeks. I myself can't wait till I have a chance to wheel with them.

Eastern Washington just did a small group last weekend??

I encourage you to join us out on the trail someday. These guys are great to wheel with. I find myself driving 100-200 miles each way just to wheel with this group.

PS You want to talk about being nervous about trimming. How about an 2001 that I still owed $15K.

I will more then likely send my dues in next week, club seems like alot of fun.Being new to the NW its a good way to meet people.


Im waiting till after the first of the year to order a big lift kit, so i can do the nickel and dime stuff. I want to have all my saftey and recovery gear before i go over 3 inchs of lift. A long arm kit would just get me in trouble right now with out it.

Welcome to the group. This is a great group of people to wheel with and get ideas and information from.

Sounds like you have your head on strait as far as where to start and to spend your time/money in the right areas. The only thing that we will ask is that before you hit the trail with us you need to make sure you have tow points front and rear (do a search in the tech forum and you should find tons of info). Other than that, can't wait to see you on the trail.

The more you read in these forums the better prepared you will be to do your lift when you are ready.

The xj on a budget boost, disco's, and decent tires is Very capable in the right hands!!

Always nice to see more XJ owners in the chapter!!! This is a real nice group to run with. I joined this past spring. Have been on 3 outtings with various members, and have enjoyed the dickens out of it! A really good group. It's also nice to be able to run with other XJ's.

Yeah im goin to put tow hooks on it, a new front bumper, and a warn winch before it gets lifted.Also buying a yakima basket with a lift jack and spare tire bracket.

This week im hunting down saftey gear, first aid kits enough mre's for 3 days ect ect.

I used to hike alot, i know anything that can happen will happen in the back country.

Oh yea we had stock xjs on the snow run last year. Good tires(decent amount of tread) is all you need.
