Well went a head and chopped the Heep today after someone shot out my window with a BB gun. Was going to wait tell it was warmer. Hear are some pics. We used the 97+ XJ hatch to fill it it. It rides some much quiter, and its not all sealed up yet. Big Thanks to Dalen, Justin, Rob, and Ross for there help.

We will finish sealing it up 2maro, and start the cage, and maybe some paint.
Monday i will finish building my rear bumper at school.

looks pretty sweet man, love the two door almost makes it look like a comanche! Have you thought about shaving the hatch handle? Still leaving the rear wiper functional?
Looking forward to seeing it all sealed up! Congrats man

lookin good man, keep the pics and post rollin with the updates.

Also, I got my front bumper just about done, so I am not needing that Rocklizard one now. Thanks though.

Thanks guys. Everything thats in the hatch will get wired back up. Brake light, wiper, defrost, LP light. I have a buddy that needs the handle so it will be getting shaved.

Thats fine i will just hack it up and put the winch on there.

Don't you need to add structure back in to replace what you deleted?

Afterall, the back roof section, rear pillars and hatch were all structural members and not just cosmetic pieces.

Thanks guys. I like it alot, its REALLY Quite on the road in that cab, and it heats up nice. Should be finished by next weekend.

Good job looks great too can't wait to see it finished up

Looks great but I thought some additional support was necessary as well to replace the rear pillars?? Welding a bar across the lower back window and a support where a tailgate should be? A cage is coming I assume?? I wouldn't wheel it. That unibody is gonna flex like the big dog and perhaps crack. Then... it's junk.

Am I incorrect?

he stated in his original post that he was starting a cage for it. But you are correct, if he did not put a cage in it it would be a floppy POS. I have seen this kid wheel at Tuttle Creek and he seems to have a pretty good idea of what he is doing.

Since we are on the topic of chop top XJ's, this is a pic of my old rig before it met its demise. Good thing it died before I did with that half ass cage in it. I had it on its side many of times, but never on the lid, thank God!!! Looking back, there were so many things that were WAY wrong with that rig...when the junk yard came to pick it up to crush it, the guy told me that that he was doing me a favor by saving my life!! HAHA!! Hey, we all gotta start somewhere! :D

That reminds me i need to get my other haft door done. :wow:
