I posted a thread about this earlier but got no response. As im driving down the road, ill turn my music down and i hear this fast squeaking noise. As my tires move faster the noise gets faster. It sounds like gerbals or rats squeaking and it drives me crazy. at first it sounded like it was coming from the front but now im not so sure. But sometimes it gets really loud and sometimes it doesnt do it at all, but as i slow down the noise slows down. anyone have any idea what it could be?

Applying Occam's Razor to the problem, we can conclude that there are gerbils in your tires. I would go back to the tire shop where you got the tires and demand they remove the gerbils - at no charge, of course.

You could also check and see if the squeak frequency matches up with the rotation frequency, and whether or not it changes when you brake or accelerate. A visual inspection of the front caliper backing plates along with the caliper pads and rotor wouldn't hurt either. Try wiggling the tires while holding at 12 and 6 to see if there is any play in the hub.

brakes, ujoints, wheel bearings.... ?? hard to say without personally hearing the noise. take it to a shop and have them pin point it for you then decline repairs and do it yourself

Pull your front Driveshaft and drive around. If the noise goes away there is your problem. If it doesn't put it back and take out your rear driveshaft and drive around, just don't spill any fluid on the ground. If it still doesn't go away, you have gerbils in your tires.

well i found that it IS coming from my front driveshaft where it connects to the transfer case, i noticed that it weas really muddy and had dried up, so i figured that what was causing the squeaking, i sprayed it down and havent drove it yet. so do you think it just needs to be greased? or would maybe putting it in 4wheel drive help it maybe?

well if mud was caked around it, then it wasnt spinning, therefore it wasnt squeaking. but you could give the 4wd thing a shot. grease up akk your u-joints. and then all of the zerks in the front end. if it doesnt go away put mice traps in the frame rails.

i hate that i brought up the gerbil thing! :) haha but i hosed it off earlier and drove it home and the noise is much quieter but still there. so i got home and sprayed it with some wd-40 and gonna let it sit tonight and see how it does tom morn. but a buddy of mine said the same thing happened to his blazer and said that it eneded up being that his transfer case was low on oil and that stoped the noise.
