amp question

im looking at getting this sub woofer http://www.crutchfield.com/S-kSqNCABck7Z/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=67700&I=575P312D4 > I want to know some general information on what kind to get if i want to power this sub and two 5x7 speakers, and also maybe just the sub, cause im on a budget, but i can get a good discount at work. this "discount". how much is it- for the 250$ stated on crutchfield you could get 2 brand new ones off ebay through ebay stores. Which again I will echo this statement --- why would any sane person pay an extra 125$ for 1 when they could get 2???--- crutchfield has its advantages but NOT on higher priced items!! go to www.ebay.com , type in P312D4 and hit search. Cheapest price for the single sub is 122$

as for amps: my first choice would be to look for 250W (RMS) x1 @2 ohms it'll probly be listed as 500x1 but that will be peak not rms. Make sure you look for the new CEA-2006 compliance to make sure the power stated will be the amps true rms. As for powering you 6x7's whats the power rating, it is possible to do a tri-way with some amps.

well see i work at bestbuy and i get car stereo stuff a little bit above what they pay for it from the factory, so im thinkin i can get it for cheaper than 122. ( i just put the link in to show a picture) As far as the amp goes wouldnt i want to match up the rms rating on the sub with that on the amp or will i even notice it. And i think the 5X7s are rated at like 40 or 50 rms.

the sub is 250W RMS PER COIL, 2 coils, so they advertise it as 500W RMS (coil + Coil) so with what I said before, it would be matched.

If you are only getting one sub, it will look like this:

or this: but very very unlikely you would run a setup like this with a 8 ohm load on the amp

if you went with TWO subs you would have the most common set up and would look like this:

Just be sure to match the load to the amp VERY important!!

any et anuther reminder... when you get your new subs pleeeeeze take the time to break them in. Dont throw em in a try to blow your windows out- play at low volume for a week and then have fun. The reason for this is that the spyders are coated with a type of resien from the factory- makes em kinda stiff- play at full volume the first time and you could warp/ crack them which would cause the voice coil to be outta wack and youd be very unhappy- take the time- do it right
