Actually Greg Lemond pulled it off with his gun shot recovery. Because of all the recovery 'drugs' it was Lemond's father that discovered EPO.
Lance was not much different with his recovery 'drugs' that made him 'super human.' He does have a naturally large lung capacity as well.
Landis has had injuries, none of which compare to what Lemond and Lance have gone through. But after his hip replacement, he'll have special recovery 'drugs' and watch out, I bet he'll have a good run a the podium again in the next couple of years.
I have met and dealt with both Lemond and Lance. I must say, Greg Lemond was probably one of the nicest guys I have ever met. Lemond would sign anything you asked him to and always gave eye to eye contact with you when talking. Lance, on the other hand, will not look at you, refuses to sign anything you hand him and responds 'I'm not going to sign that because it will only end up on eBay.' I have seen Lance turn more people away that went to greet him than one would believe. He is rude and an overall asshat. Right now he still has 'thunder' in our industry because of his amazing feat but give it time and I guarantee, with all the bridges he has burned, he won't be welcome too much longer especially now that the US has a new 'hero,' Floyd Landis. In a 20/20 interview with Lance's mother, she all but said he was an asshat. I am not denying the amazing feat Armstrong did, I am just saying as a human being, he is a complete piece of $hit.
I have not (yet) met Landis, but from his menonite background, I cannot imagine him being anywhere near an asshat as Lance.
And yes, go USA!!
