All Things Guns

Cool I'll look into that. So you can make inside and outside holsters with Kydex?

Yeah, there's a ton of articles on the net. And a few companies selling the kydex and the rivets and stuff. All you need is an oven.

My tucker leather holster for my 1911 is leather wrapped in kydex. It's IWB.

I just got my Alien Gear last week for my Glock 27, pretty good holster for the price.

A friend has buying a gun. I suggested that he get an AR 15 since he just wants something to shoot and 223 and regular 556 is/was readily available. He did bought a Mossberg Plinkster from Walmart. Today he told me he paid $65 for a 500 box of 22. He got into this hobby way to late. The most I will pay for 22 is 30 for a box of 500 which is still about 10 too much when compared to I was paying 17 a box for a Federal 555 box. I still have 2200 rounds of 22 to shoot through before I get to that point.

That is what I told my friend because you can shoot either 556 or 223 in them.

Between BS media blabber and commercials theres so much misinformation concerning 223/556 compatibility. Just like all the "223 green tip" talk going on. There is no 223 green tip. Only 556 green tip. So now you have guys going out buying green tip for their 223 and it cant be shot of their rifle

I stopped in a Walmart in Beckly. WV, ARs were $700-$800 each, I may go pick one or two up on May when I go through there again.

they're that much and several of them in my local walmart.

no need to drive to WV.

Interesting. The newest one in town here didn't at first but do now. I wouldn't get a gun there anyway. My friends gun shop has 6-700 dollar AR's if I wanted one.

It's not as simple as saying it can't. There's a lot of barrels and a lot of guns and SAAMI specs for all of them. The general rule is yes, 5.56 has more chamber pressure than .223, but every situation is truly different.

the problem with 5.56 vs .223 is chamber dimensions and spec'd pressures.
5.56 chambers are sloppy, because they're designed for maximum reliability in a semi auto firearm. Specifically the throat is elongated to aid in feeding.
a .223 chamber may be significantly tighter.

put a 5.56 round in a tight .223 chamber and bad things may very well happen because of the increased pressures in a tight match chamber.

worst case scenario for .223 in a 5.56 chamber is that the chamber is sloppy and you'll have some blowby past the chamber, or maybe a case neck that splits because the brass can't expand that far, but it's very unlikely to blow up.

none of this takes into account the possibility of an Ackley chamber in .223. Put a 5.56 round in an ackley chamber and you're probably gonna have a bad day.
