Right. I've wanted to do a .300WM bolt gun for that stuff, but I'm liking the sound of like a .338Federal in an AR10.

I don't know. It's forever away anyhow.

The only problem with ar's is they really start weighing a lot after adding everything and a loaded clip. Usually there is a lot of up and down walking out west and that makes a difference. I usually have mine stuffed in my eberlestock pack until I know Im gonna be shooting. Besides, its way cooler putting all your odds on one well placed shot. I got hooked on singlee shot handguns and think my shooting has improved a lot.

My AR sits next to 2 garands and an 03A3. I guess weight is a relative term. I'd rather carry that than my full size battle rifles.

HB 1563 was signed by the governor last week. Among other minor DNR administrative changes, it removes the prohibition on hunting with suppressors, and carrying auto opening knives.

I'm already shopping for a switchblade. The suppressor will have to wait until a couple of bills get paid. But I was planning for one already for my SBR AR. Now I will have to do a threaded barrel for the Savage for groundhogs.

Stumbled across an article about it last night and I was correct, July 1st! I think i'll get me a switchblade just for the hell of it!

So switchblades will be legal, and suppressors will be legal to hunt with. Is this just in Indiana or is this a federal thing?

I'm assuming the suppressor will still be a class III purchase and not any easier to get?

Finished up my first AK build. Bent it, head spaced it, the whole nine yards. Started out as a really rough Romy G. Shoots great, the trigger is amazing. I sprung for some fully adjustable 2 stage match trigger. Money well spent.

Anyone into mid/long range shooting, say 400-1000+ yards? I am considering doing a .308 build for this but curious to see if anyone here does.

I do a bit of that. I don't own a 308 though. I think the .260 might be worth looking into, there are some good preforming bullets that are lighter. Less recoil and better ballistics. The .308 will do it just fine though. Personally I would look at a 6.5x.284, savage makes a few guns I this caliber, it a very accurate well preforming caliber.

Hands down the best way to make your AK more accurate. Bought some for my dad for christmas. I shot 1.5" groups with his 5.45.

Kit + $50 receiver + $50 in tools + $50 in parts.

Depends on how much you spend on the kit.

I did that one for $750 panic pricing. May seem high but that trigger and stock wasn't cheap.

If you shop around and keep it bare bones you could probably get away for a little more than $500 these days watching forums for tooling and crapola.

The days of $150 parts kits are long gone. I'm kicking myself for waiting this long, way more fun than my AR.

Well, $750 isn't that bad considering when my AR is finished I'll have somewhere around $1100-1200 in it. That's with a few goodies, though. And some things bought as cheap as I could find them. It's a mixed bag. Instead of DGI, I went gas piston, but I found that kit for $200. Cheap as far as pistons go but expensive over DGI. MagPul knock-off stock is on the list for $100. Cheap for "MagPul" but expensive over the $50 standard M4 stocks.
