First, i hit a little bump in my 1990 xj and it just died. Then I started it back up and idle rpms would not go over 500rpm and also I had no throttle response. Then I shifted into reverse and had normal rpm and throttle response. I then tried to back up over a hill and it died and would not start after that. After troubleshooting I found that the MSD ignition box was not producing a spark and the crankshaft positioning sensor was trashed (literally). I installed a new MSD and crank positioning sensor. The jeep now runs, but not very well. Engine idle is around 800rpm and smooth, but when I gas it the engine falls and stumbles. It will build rpm slowly to 1200rpm. It runs extemely rough and backfires. Any help would be appreciated.
