I installed my set of AJs Super-Square Rock Rails. After putting it on and taking it off five times per side to fine tune the pinch seem holes we finally got it all installed. They are herculined all around, and i like em, it really adds to the Jeep (and it helps my mom get into the jeep, which was kinda the reason i got em..lol)

**The bad news~~~u somehow snapped off a sway bar disconnect mount and didnt realize till it was up on the lift. I heard a pop in the parking lot the day before and i guess the bolt snapped..still not sure, because i didnt hit anything..but whatever, im buying JKS quicker disconnects tomorrow to replace em

PICS*******

Go play on the rocks, I encourage it :gag:
What do you mean?

Is there something wrong with self tappers?

I have been running my rock rails with self tappers for over a year, and I don't shy away from rocks. They have been to Moab, Johnson Valley, Calico, Big Bear, and have seen plenty of spots where they had the full weight of my Jeep drop on them from a foot or two.

So are you serious?

sounds to me like you either have

a. no experience

or

b. have no idea how most every slider system mounts to the uniframe (see A.)

As I have said before that is one nice XJ!

Whatd you use for the bedliner material? and how did you apply it?

Thanks!

Is it just me or does the way they are mounted.. just, look sketchy? I don't know much about physics, but I wouldn't mind.. mounted them to the uni-rails a little better.

It really isn't a big deal. The force put on them is at the outter edge upward. The pinch rail is only a couple inches from the point of force and cannot give without lifting the whole floor. The mounts to the "frame" are about a foot inboard so the leverage against the bolts is roughly one fourth of what is applied to the rail.

So, if you put 1000 lbs of force upward against the rail, then you have roughly 250 lbs of force trying to sheer the self tappers at the "frame". Distributed between several bolts, the force really isn't enough to do much.

did you sand the clearcoat/paint off the fenders and end caps?

i took the trim off a scuffed it up with the sand paper, cleaned it with acetone and painted them with 2 coats of herculiner

i did the same thing for the end caps and the air dam under the bumper
