Air Horns

well for a long time now i havent had a horn, and havent really needed one. usually just a finger in the rear veiw mirror or out the window does the trick. so the other day im driving and this crazy asian lady starts drifting all over the road and then swerves over and cuts me off, only because i slowed down - otherwise she would have gone right into the side of my car. this is when i realized how important a nice horn was.

so i swing by pep boys and pic up a Wolo 400 series dual trumpet air horn. i thought this would do the trick, but it turns out the horns are relaly high pitched and pansy sounding. i was wondering how could i make them have a nice, throaty mac truck kind of sound, instead of sounding like a honda on drugs. i heard making the trumpet longer solves this, but i tried extending them and they still sound horrible. heres the link of u wanna hear it as is.

Yeah good idea scoob there is a CSX yard close to me. HMMMMM.....

i looked at train horns, but those baby's are expensive. like $350 expensive. i might have to further investigate this firetruck horn idea. i kno theyre illegal, but so are tires out past ur fender flares and a bumper that's more than 24" off the ground. :)

I hope your joking.

If your not, theft of something like a horn is/can be charged as a federal offense. Since you are tampering with a federally required safety deivce. Also, those east coast railroads are alot more strict on thier dealings with trespassers, maybe you'll just get asked to leave or they could arrest you, so be forewarned...

RELAX, I am just joking. J.C. Whitney offers a "locomotive" horn, but I am not too sure about it. Maybe, one day, my junkyard might get a semi tractor in with horns ( but not for long, LOL).

I found the company that makes genuine locomotive horns, but like i said theyre crazy expensive for the horn, plus the onboard air system. Grover makes firetruck air horns, stuttertone horns, semi horns, and the humungous train horns that are hella loud. theres a police auction at the local DMV next weekend, hopefully ill be able to yank one off of an ambulence or firetruck.
