I know they made them for wranglers for a while now, but apparently they have them for our cherokees. Anyone have this setup or pics of it installed? Pretty price, similar to KN except they use aluminum. Obviously a DIY is cheaper but I was wondering if anyones got it in theirs and how it looks. Im hoping they'll put up some sort of dyno charts for any gains made.

Yeah I'm deff a fan of AEM products too. If it was a bit cheaper and I was in the market for one Id prolly pick them over KN.

I had a nice long talk with the guy from AEM at truck fest this last weekend. Its actualy realy cool compared to other ones. The filter is 99.5% efficiant when K&N is 96% just to show the difference. They said they expect about 14hp gain but is probably a little bit less than that. I got to check out one of their filters and the inside it actualy curves in to the tube instead of a flat end like other companies. Another thing is the filters can come in white because 50,000 had to be made in white so they could be inspected but if you want a gray one just call them. They also have polished and powdercoated tubes. I should be buying mine this weekend if all goes well :)

Yep, they are making it.

I've got one on my '98. I'm new to XJs... but I was under the impression they'd been making this kit for a while.

my buddy had an older Chevy druamax and he had an AEM brute force on it it was really nice. he sold the truck for a newer Duramax and tried to jerry rig the old intake to fit the new truck by hacking up the in take tubing. well long story short that truck got sold so i took the choped up intake and made it work on the cherokee. so now i got a big old honkin' filter in there. ill have to take a pic of it later. :) the filters are super nice.

AEM's R&D is based out of hawthorne CA and happens to be a client of mine. just from talking to the head of the R&D over there fromday to day i can tell you he is VERY detail oriented, and makes sure everything is 100% tested and approved before he reccomends it to be built. he even went as far as asking for a 97+ sport and a 97+ limited because (in his words) "there is a 1/16th in difference in the way the intake tube on the limited is routed, and i want to make sure my products are going to fit." thats quality right there.

the thing that makes me lean more towards AEM is this. thier filters flow better AND filter better than a K&N. K&N filters just flow better, thats what most people dont understand. you get your little HP gains form the K&N filter because it lets more air flow through, but with less filtration. if you wheel in any kind of dust, i would advise an OEM filter over a K&N any day. but these AEM filters have the studies to prove it, they filter better AND flow better. top notch stuff.

just my oppinoin. ;)

I run an AEM like the one pictured and after 6 months of driving, the inside of the intake tube is grit and oil free.........try that with a K&N.

I had AEM use my XJ for the 91-96 XJ. I like the kit, no issues with it at all. Looks just like the one posted up in Overlands pics.

I run AEM DryFlow filter with a Rusty's intake tube. Love it, no oil to mess with. I made a heat/splash guard out of a sun deflector for a windshield like on go-jeep.

i'm not really convinced there's enough of a difference in temps to bother trying to shield that area, especially at that price. always been a big fan of the K&N style replacements though.

When I was changing my battery last week I really though about relocating the filter over there. It'd be much cooler over there but prolly not worth the hassle.

I kinda wonder if you could fit a TJ system under the hood...

you'd have to chop the tube down some... but doable... maybe not neatly... but doable.

The "rise" in the tube is too high to clear teh XJ hood... and... IIRC, we were looking at having to squish the tube where it went over the engine too. then we decided to cut and section it so the filter went to the stock area. Seemed easier that way.

Anyone swap the AEM filter onto a K&N tube ?

97XJ Jeeper... do you feel that filter is large enough ??

Fine for me. Could of got a bigger one for the little bit extra HP but I just got that one cause it is what they had on the shelf and didn't have to order one.
