About me, the "COjeeper" story

So I was nominated to be the Colorado Chapter Treasurer which I am honored to accept. So I guess it would make sense if I tell you a little about myself. My wife, son and I moved to Colorado back in 2007. After several trips out here we fell in love with the state, considering we are from Iowa that should be no surprise for most of you. :D

My love for jeeps and the XJ started when I had my first trip up in the mountains on my 4 wheeler and ran into several lifted jeeps on the trails. That and the constant nagging from my wife to spend time with her and our son, i decided it was time to get rid of the 4 wheeler and buy something I can take the whole family in and have been hooked ever since.

After purchasing my XJ I knew I was going to start modifying it right away, but didn't know to much about it, so I found this forum and started reading, and by reading, I read a lot! I'm pretty mechanically inclined, but lacked the confidence to do anything till i started here. So after years of lurking in the back ground I decided it was time to give back to a great forum that has taught me a lot over the years.

Though I don't know to much about the Treasurer duties, I am willing to put the effort in to help this chapter and help make it a great place to meet some very talented people. I have met some really cool people from this chapter so far and would love to be your Treasurer so I can meet more like minded individuals like myself and to help grow the Colorado chapter. Plus I'm sure Fred could use a break. :D

So  to getting to know more of you and helping out a great cause!

What are some of the things you would like to see happen in the chapter, over the next two years?

Do you think we have missed opportunities with our bias toward the "sport" aspect of our vehicles?

Sorry brother, worked a lot of hours this week due to the cold snap we had. I would like to see a website up and running locally for the sale of merchandise, other than only getting stuff at the M&G's. I would also like to get a paypal account set up for the site as well.

I would like to get more people involved with the group. I see a lot of XJ people out there that know of NAXJA and use it for insight, but don't think they need to join. I believe every bodies input is important and there is no such thing as a inappropriate questions. I think a little education goes a long way.

Yes I do think we have missed opportunities with the "sport" aspect of our vehicles. Not everybody wants to crawl rocks, I know some like to do easy to moderate trails, to no trails at all, just a daily driver. I think these people think NAXJA is a forum for only hardcore people and not the everyday XJ owner. I think we need to change that persona of the Colorado chapter. Hopefully I can get a chance to help with this change over the next 2 years. :D
