Another NC State Trooper was killed in an accident Fri.
on I-40 milepost 27. His car, which he was in, was hit by a tractor trailer after making a routine traffic stop. The car burst into flames
and the trooper perished.
We also lost another Trooper 2 years ago in a similar accident
about a mile east on I-40. He was outside the car when he was
struck by a tractor trailer.
I dont know how it is in your area but in ours we get to know our troopers and families and these losses are terrible
for us.
Please keep these families in your thoughts for these were just men like me and you just doing their jobs.

Are these cars bursting into flames crown vic's? Some law enforcement moving away from these cars. Claims being made that they cant survive a 45 mph collision w/o rupturing fuel tank and the doors being jammed shut, bad news for any one inside. I think the law enforcement community is finding a problem with these cars but its cheaper for Ford to keep selling these cars and then pay isolated law suits and not recall cars. If thats whats happening. I believe its happened here in Florida.

Sad news, we had a Highway Patrolman lost two weeks ago here in Missouri the same way. Hit from the rear by a semi.. car burst into flames and he died in the car.
Very sad, he was 27 and had two children.

I just read in the paper the other day that VT troopers are planning to start enforcing the law that requires crossing into the opposite lane when passing a stopped cop car. Seems as if it would be a good idea to publicize that rule a little more.
