A sad farewell

The white XJ is going to the scrap yard tomorrow. I will have the engine out in the morning and there simply isn't much left of it. I hope to get the engine seperated from the tranny and swap in the "new" tranny before sliding the whole thing back in the new body. It is going to be wierd. I have driven the crap out of that rig for 7 years now, but it got where the body flex was more than the suspension flex.

If anybody needs any glass, let me know and I will hold it back. The windshield is gone.

Question: how do you know when to get rid of a unibody rig
Answer: when you flex it up and the windshield breaks because the body is racking.

Going to work like mad to try and have the "new" vehicle together and all the mods done for ColoradoFest.

du du dah, du da duhhhh, a moment of silence please :us: ! :(

farewell old friend.! even though I did not know the XJ, sad to see another put to rest!.

Here name was Christine, like in Stephen Kings novel. That gal tried to kill me a couple of times. But like most women, with the right care and feeding and an occasional night on the town, we got along.

The worst was sitting at the gas station getting gas, I lifted the hatch and bent over to get a tire gauge out of the back. The gas strut popped off and the hatch gilotined me. It knocked me out cold and I broke my nose when my face hit the bumper.

Maybe you can donate it to one of those stupid people TV reality shows and have them blow it up! Maybe an Extreme Make Over for Jeeps?! Somebody get Hollywood on the phone!

It attracted quite a crowd for a few minutes. Had to threaten to punch out the ambulance guy. They were bound and determined to take me to the hospital. They were going to take me against my will until I told them they would end up paying the bills since I wasn't going to. They said I was beligerant because of a head injury. I informed them I wasn't beligerant, but I could show them a whole new meaning of the word unless they left me alone.

Needless I was in a piss poor mood.

Hey Tom,

That thing doesn't by chance have any good fenders, does it? I'm looking for a couple of white ones to replace the somewhat wrinkled fenders I have now.

Let me know.

Oh, and good luck getting the new one done over the next couple of weeks.

Brian

Both are pretty well mangled. Sorry.

I'll miss seeing that rig Tom. I've followed it on a few trails from Black Bear to Kane Creek. Good memories...

It is pretty much stripped and going to the yard tomorrow if they can pick it up tomorrow. Sitting here I just remembered two more things to pull. I forgot that I have a virtually new fuel pump and I want to get the nut strips from the hitch. You should see it. There is nothing left and there is a junker motor in the back seat.

I'm keeping that. Sorry. It left a couple of days ago, anyway.
