Okay, spend the extra $400 on a high pinion 9" third member and keep the stock driveshaft. Or spend the $400 bucks on a SYE and driveshaft and have the low pinion 9".
a high pinion 3rd member would have a better angle for my DS unless I lift it 5 or more inches from where it's at. I'm planning on only 1 or 2 more inches. As it is now I have no vibs
a high pinion 3rd member would have a spare drive shaft (I already have one spare shaft) available at most all salvage yards for $25ish, or most any Wal-mart, or used car lot for free if I was fast. :shhh: :nono:

-Keep matching lug patterns
-No custom e-brake cables / system
-No welding custom spring perches and shock mounts
-No leaky mess if you hafta remove the slip yolk DS on the trail
-SYE and DS will likely work with future axle mods

At lest it's not a hotdog cooked via torch with melted plastic fork inside.
1- 9 inch and HP44 going in at same time = matching lug patterns
2- 9 inch going in etiher hp or lp, so e-brake cables have to be done either way.
3- see first part of number 2
4- 1/2 right, I have a plug to take the place of the ds if it has to be driven, but still a mess possible while changing shaft, or putting in plug.
5- 9 inch and hp 44 are the end of the axle mod line.
Darl, I have one of those slip yoke plugs and have used in on my old 91 with no problems and if that doesn't work we duck taped a empty water bottle on the back of late model GMC last week and sent the guy home in 4 high. He spun his aluminum drive shaft in half. I've always like the idea of high pinion nine but I don't have experiance with it to give you advice. You could think about a SYE set up to use a stock front shaft as a spare.
