A peak at what a certain traitor has been up to

I might not be all about the uber LCOG craze, but that thing is rediculously tall. No thanks.

And you know he doesn't wheel it because it doesn't even have hydraulic assist. That or he's a 'roid raging meth head with arms like a gorilla.

Just shot you a text Dutch, if you dont have time tomorrow we dont have to worry about it. If you could of told me sooner I could of met up with troy as I was down south this afternoon

Here ya go, Dutch. I was goofin around with some editing software on my phone yesterday and did this one up....looks pretty cool.

Plasma cutter was at it again, I think its time to send it to boarding school or something. :D

The 2 1" tubes coming down from the rocker are just to hold everything in place until I can build the actual supports. I figured I'd want something in there as I'm cutting out the body mounts.

Tube welded it. The tub on this side was a bit wrinkled from my flop in Moab, my weld has a sweet wave to it accordingly.

Next I'm going to start adding in the supports for the boatsides and then start plating it.

Got the transmission mounted finally, although I need to source the correct starter bolts for this bell housing. :( Still, its in and thats what matters.

I also got my transmission crossmember tacked up, I'll have to finish weld it in the worning and add in some gussets to the underside.

The best part is, nothing is hanging past the frame rails so far. :D The downside is, I'm going to have to go back to the exhaust shop again. :(

Oh, and I just ordered this bad boy with the proceeds from my doubler sale.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_etFlysQAPU&feature=player_embedded

RADesigns Baja II shifter, completely stand alone so no TCU required. I'll still technically have a manual transmission then, it just wont have a clutch. Almost like a VW's tiptronic, awesome. Now my Wrangler is part YJ, part CJ, part XJ, part Chevy 1ton, and part VW!!!! Woohoo, when their powers combine.......

I also need to get a clocking ring/adapter for the D300, and I would like to go cable shifter on it as well. Oh yeah, and somebody needs to buy my Iroks so I can get a 4:1 kit for the thing. Damn, why can;t this shite be easy??

Well last night I ordered my clocking ring kit for the D300, a trans cooler, some metric to AN adapters for the cooler line ports, some AN to barbed fitting adapters for those, a trans temp gauge, and a pod for it that mounts to 1.75 OD tubing. So now I'm out of money from my doubler sale ut I've got everything I need to get the drivetrain back together. I'll have to re-tube my driveshafts again and eventually come up with the funds for a 4:1. I was a bit drunk but luckily I just reviewed my purchases and I seem to have got things right. It also means that minus trans fluid my AW4 swap has been free. Everything I bought, including the automatic, have all been fully funded by the sale of my manual transmission and doubler.

Got the frame stripped down on the passengerside

I decided to run a piece of the 1.5" .120wall box tubing along the side of the frame rail. This is because my frame angles in about halfway along where I'm building the boat sides and if I just ran spreaders straight to the frame it would put them at different angles. This way I'll have the same angle all the way down.

The angle I was taling about

Thanks, and I'm going to love when I'm done, this shite is a pain in the arse.

Just 1 more spreader to go on the passenger side, then I've got to weld it all up and start on the driver's side.

I wish I could say it was planned this way and I'm just super good but it was pure coincidence, the spreaders are at damn near exactly 45deg.

Its definitely starting to take shape and I'm getting excited, but holy cow I never want to do this again. Still, it'll be all worth it when I'm done and minus the plate I haven't bought yet I'm only into it about 60$ for material plus consumables.

I take it you removed all the body mount bushings and mounted the body direct to the frame?

shite, now it IS an XJ, unibody and all -- nice work Dutch, that may be the first unibody YJ! :yelclap:

Yes, the only remaining body mounts are the 1 under the radiator/grill and the 2 that sit in front of where the stock fuel tank would go. The rear most pair I'd already removed when I did the comp cut. I'm also going to be tie-ing the tub into the cage in more paces.

I'll be doing something like this on the a-pillar spreaders:

And I'm going to something similar on the B-pillar hoop as well. Where the rear spreaders go through the tub right now is just a big hole but I'm going to add in some plate to attach the tub to it.

See; its a Dove-nosed, chop topped, 2-door XJ. Thaats what I've been saying this entire time. :D
