98XJ: Project Salsa

Is this Adam's build thread or a pissing contest of who has XXXXed up what?

new axle shaft was on my door yesterday (thanks to ECGS for making shit right easy and quick!) hubs and ujoint UBOLTS will be on my door by the time i get home according to UPS. gotta assemble driver's side shaft and bearings, install both hubs and brakes on the front end, cut and weld the tie rod, drag link, and trackbar, weld the coil buckets i made on, get the front shocks mounted, and run the rear brake lines across the axle then finally bleed the system. rear shocks arent a priority at the moment, the deaver leafs look like theyre gonna ride like a school bus for a while. that should be all... oh, and some lug nuts for the rear axle. the driver's side spindle is very slightly pitted but some work with very fine sandpaper and a lot of wheel bearing grease should take care of that methinks.

i'll be home around 6-7 tonight, i'll be wrenching until ~5 tomorrow night then i have dinner for my dad's bday, then i'll come home and wrench some more (if needed). gonna be busy for the better part of the day sunday but i think i can get this thing rolling for monday's drive to work.

What's a ujoint ubolt? I'm pretty sure they're called something besides a ubolt. That just doesn't seem right to calll a ubolt a....ubolt.

Have fun this weekend, hope things go smooth :D

Stopped bc I'm doing dinner w pops for his bday. Hopefully I drive it home tomorrow night

I had a question about my coil perches' durability... I have the ballistic perches but to keep the coil from moving around I used a piece of 3" exhaust tube; the coil fits perfect around it and the prothane mint inside it. I was yelled at by my buddies here saying it'll fail, Chris said firi. What say you nac ?

D30 hubs work mint to keep the coil in place, i wouldnt trust a poice of exhast tube to keeo meh coil in place

I might do it but I'd rather use poop pipe. Only way I can think of it failing is if you're flexed out and the spring is putting sideways pressure on the tube.
