I was just messing with the jeep, had a pretty good wheeling trip last weekend so I was checking everything out. Once a year or so I put a fuel pressure guage on it to make sure everything is good. As usual it was rock steady at 46psi. I have always wanted to check it under a load but my fuel pressure guage is not long enough. So I got off my ass and went to the hardware store and extended my guage so I could read it while going down the road. So I took off down the road with my fuel pressure gauge zip tied to the windshield wiper lol. I was a little surprised, over 3500RPM it drops to about 32 PSI. Turns out thats right when i get a little bit of spark knock as well, probably because its LEAN.
Does anyone have any pics of the 97+ fuel pump setup? I want to take a look at it and see if I can just put a walboro pump in there thats rated for some more volume. Under normal driving or part throttle its fine at 46psi and never moves, wide open however is when it drops. The jeep has 221K on it and as far as I know its the original pump. However I don't want to go through the trouble to replace it with another stock pump only to have the same problem? It does have to feed a bigger motor and injectors as well.
So any pics of the 97+ fuel pump setup? I know the older HO stuff would take a walboro pump no problem.
