97 CARGO LIGHT

Hi everyone, I have searched and cannot find an answer to this. Is the rear cargo light supposed to come on when you open the hatch. I could have sworn at one time it did. Now it does not. I can't find a hatch switch, so I am at a loss. Thanks

Open the hatch, and push on the light. It is a switch, so you can have it come on when the hatch is opened, or not come on. Its handy for Tailgaiting and not wearing down the battery.

On the 97s, the rear light has a button on it. Press the button; if that doesn't work, check the bulb.

It is also common for the 97-01's to melt the contacts inside the switch assembly and the light stops working. Grab the whole cargo area light and gently tug down. You can inspect the bulb and switch contacts.
