Short question: Where can I find an exploded diagram of a 96 cirrus distributor.

Amplifying info: A fellow at work asked me this question. He took his cirrus in for a 120K mile service and was quoted $400. He also stated the LF power window did not work, A/C operation was intermitten/slow to cool, there was a clunking noise from the front end and a slight wobble/shimmy.

The upsell, er call back revised estimate was that he needed a sway bar link ($160); two front tires ($225); front pads and rotors resurfaced ($300) rear shoes, including new drums, hardware and wheel cylinders ($500) new timing belt and of course accesory belts ($450). The $400 service included rotor, wire cap, plugs, lube/oil/filter and inspection of the brakes etc.

Today gets a call and they want to charge him for a new distributor, the car 'ran bad on the roadtest' and that the rotor was arcing in the cap because the isolater was cracked and when the mechanic (used loosely) took the cap off the spring loaded part was lost and he didn't see where it went, but it was broken and that's why it came apart. So the new charge is $600 for the distributor (rebuilt). The service writer told him, we've been into this so many times we'll eat the labor if you buy the part. The conversation was on speaker phone and I listened in as he discribed the cap and rotor. Now it seems to me that the cap/rotor were broken when the mechanic worked on it as my fellow worker told me there was no idle or engine miss when he brought it in. I am more familiar with older GM style ignitions and the spring loaded pin and isolater are part of the new cap so it sounded fishy, and if the spark was arcing , it would have been on the old cap also, so why wouldn't the call for more parts and $$$ have come then?

I would like to see the diagram so I can speak with some authority on the subject to the shop tomorrow. BTW, this is not a dealer...but an independent.
