90 xj engine stutter

Cant believe i missed that .....

Well, Jeeps runnin like a champ again, you ready for this ?? .... Intermittent low fuel pressure (!) Was fine when I checked, guess i wasnt thorough enough. Pulled the fuel pump out and the little 4 inch or so rubber line that connects the pump to the hard line coming out of the assy was cracked, dumpin half the fuel back into the tank .... new piece of fuel hose, worth probably 25 cents and everythings great !!! Anyway, I apreciate all the input guys, hope I can return the hospitality :)

That´s the third post about the fuel lines between the pump and the filter (on two boards this month), deterorating, one in tank and two outside tank. Think I´m, gonna have a look at mine, before they mess up.
I drove around with a fuel pressure gauge tied to my windshield wiper for three days in the spring. Just to eliminate fuel pressure as a factor. Regulators have been known to be problematic.
You can do me a favor if you would, I´m trying to get a cross section, to check wear in the distributor gears, cam distributor gear and timing chain. Figure if I collect a few measurements, I can decide whats normal and what ain´t (maybe figure in mileage). Add it to my list of spot checks for the XJ. I´m interested in the play in the rotor, a close enough measurement, at the outside end of the rotor, kind of a lash meausrement. When measuring try not to turn the rotor so far, it rides up on the angle of the gears. I`ve only got a couple of Renix XJ´s around here, that I can compare with.
I´m gonna do a search for a compatable, bronze distributor gear, put my Renix on the scope and see what the harmonics are like.

By the way thanks for the solution, many times, all a person hears, is the problem and then the thread kind of disappears.
